I agree, Ryuzu. But I think people are taking what you said the wrong way.
The way I see it is this:
Even once these controls are smoothed out and made "perfect," they are still largely counter intuitive. What's *really* quicker and easier? Holding your arm out and swiping it around, or pressing a button on a remote?
Don't get me wrong. The Kinect controls are certainly entertaining, flashy, and futuristic. But I'd a...
Wow, talk about your "non-news" news. The article should have been about the PS3 *and* Wii getting disc-less Netflix apps, but instead they had to go for the "controversial" title for hits.
On a side note, I've streamed Netflix from my 360 and Ps3, and the disc honestly never bothered me. i mean, you still have to put a disc in to play a game or watch a blu-ray, so what's the difference? Having said that, it's of course good to have the app ...
I've owned a PS3 for a few years. This summer, I won a bunch of 360 games (including Mass Effect 1 and 2), so I went out and bought a 360. I actually *just* beat ME1 this week and just started ME2. And I have to say, PS3-only owners are in for a treat. It's a fantastic game. As a big fan of games like Oblivion and Fallout 3, I can say this game will appeal to those types of gamers.
The RPG elemts are dialed back in comparison, and of course this is a Sci-fi gam...
Well, I've never played any of those games, so i guess I'm doing pretty good.
But I have to say, I've been interested in trying Lair, especially since you can get it pretty cheap and they have the patch now so you don't have to use the sixaxis.
Haze, I played the demo. Not a big FPS fan to begin with, and the demo didn't change my mind.
This guy basically just made some guesses as to why a slim would be a good idea. And to be honest, some of his reasoning seemed flawed.
He mentioned that the slim could be bundled with Natal. But they certainly don't *need* a slim model to make this bundle happen, and I'm sure they'll bundle with current hardware if there is no slim.
$100!? That would be awesome, but how likely is it really? I mean, from their perspective, they already have a ...
600mb? Pffft. That's nothing. I've downloaded demos bigger than that.
Speaking of, if you're looking to clear up some space, deleting demos is a great way to do it. If you're like me, and you let them build up, it adds up to a good 5-10 GB by time you delete them all. Insane.
I'm curious about the real play-time too. Generally speaking, I take a good couple hours more than the average anyway. :-P
Though I have to say, even if the single player is only 5 hours, at least there's that co-op mode that seems to bring another 5 hours (so they say).
Co-op is one of the things I really miss from most modern games.
I'm waiting to see if Alan Wake gets good reviews. If so, I'll have to finally get a 360 for this, Alan wake, and the ...
I'll agree with you (and I think most people do) that there were some plot holes and stumbling points in the dialogue. But to be honest, neither of those things bothered me much, and I imagine this comes down mostly to people's opinions.
I *am* a stickler for story (I'm a writer), but I guess I don't mind giving them a little leeway due to the branching story lines. Having said that, I do hope they add some explanations in the Chronicles DLC.
I disagree about Ethan...
Dang! That's a pretty awesome deal. It makes me wish I didn't already own Bioshock 1.
I was reading the comments on the page this was posted from, and missing from the video was the voucher codes. Apparently, the soundtrack and documentary were not included as physical CD's, rather as voucher codes that you use to download. Also there's the code for a skin...forget the name of it.
I didn't buy the CE, but even so, it's disappointing that they didn't include physical CD's/dvd's for the soundtrack and documentary.
Still, it looks like a really cool C...
Wow, i didn't see anything like that when I played the demo...
It's a good application, slightly reminiscent of Xi (or at least, that's my impression thus far).
TO be honest, I haven't completely grasped the new Home space. There are a number a mini games, new merchandise for purchase, plus free gear to win. You get "objectives" to require you to play the mini games in the home space, and they get you "sodium credits" that you can use to get stuff I guess.
It's definitely enjoyable, but also seems like it c...
Hey, thanks for the tips.
Yeah, I have to admit, I don't play too many online games, so I never really got into the whole chatting part of it. I do have a headset, but I rarely feel the urge to turn it on.
I do enjoy using the headsets when I'm playing online with people I know, though.
Anyway, thanks again.
Ha, yeah, I'm a muter as well. I honestly can't stand having to listen to people talk while I play. The other day I was playing Uncharted 2 and I forgot to mute it, so i had to suffer through an entire match of these Italian guys rapping to each other.
Is there a way to mute mid-game? I guess I should have tried... :-(
Anyway, yeah, cool feature for those who want it. but I, for one, don't care.
I didn't realize in-game grief reporting was a firmware issue. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Little Big Planet already have an in-game grief reporting system in place?
So if LBP has it all ready, how does Uncharted 2 having a grief reporting system signal some kind of firmware update/upgrade?
Maybe I'm missing something?
EDIT: It's also kinda funny that they chose the Charlie Brown picture saying "Good Grief" when that's exact...
I've got nothing against a show such as Watchdog looking out for consumers. I don't even care if they shine the spotlight on the PS3. But for God's sake, they could at least do proper research!
They basically make unfounded claims based on a few PS3's that they repaired (some of which broke again, proving their "fix" wasn't didn't really work). Maybe if they were willing to put the time and effort into the study that it needs, they would have come to a very different...
I do wish the treasure map was a hard copy, but it's still cool as a download.
EDIT: From the amazon page:
"Pre-order "Uncharted 2: Among Thieves" and get $5 off a future video game purchase. The promotional code will be placed directly into your Amazon.com account within 2 business days after the product ships."
Sweet.
Yeah, Frosty, it did seem sort of cheesy didn't it? I sort of thought it was a joke at first.
Still, it'll be very cool to get some 3d gaming in the house.
"We’re proud to say that this is a system we were involved in developing. Sony Computer Entertainment wanted to spice up the background a bit and static pictures just didn’t cut the mustard.
"So we collaborated with them to make a system where developers can display what they want and animate and move them around. This definitely adds a little life to the PS3’s background," he wrote.
***So, in other words, they were almost definitely paid by Sony to h...
@The Lazy One
But you seem to be confusing the issue here. While touch and motion capture have similarities, they are by no means the same thing.
Using your cubical farm example, I'd argue that using full body motion cameras is just as counter intuitive as using voice commands.
*Touch screens* in an office setting make sense, but even then, using a mouse just seems easier. In the case of a mouse, your arm rests comfortably on the desk, ...
