I love me some Dawn of War, but I would have to say for an RTS experience, Starcraft should still be the go to to get involved in the RTS genre. Dawn of War could be a giant wall of hurt for most console gamers not attuned to the world of RTS.

Civ IV is a good addition, as is Sins of a Solar Empire, though I would reserve the latter for later gaming rather than introductory games.

Seeing Deus Ex and Half Life on there is of course excellent, but the list is lacking ...

Controversy aside, how exactly is the removal of LAN "somewhat similar" to Spore's DRM debacle? This article is one of the most ill-researched gaming articles I have read.

No Steven Blum or Michael Ironside? Sad.

And thus, Mozilla has increased their market share by .001%! After another decade, perhaps Firefox will gain another commanding 1%!

That's what I keep thinking man. During the "art controversy", I seriously wondered how many complainers realized that all the campaigns in Diablo II took place during the day (for the most part). And there was a lot of color and saturation, plus things like the mythical "humor", and "charm".

I can't wait for D3, but I will always hold my judgment until I actually play it.

But then again, that's what everyone said about Steam back in the day. Even I said things along those lines. Now about 50% of my games are purchases through Steam. There's a large market now and definitely in the future for various forms of Digital Distribution.

The big factor is not the virtuality of the service, but the execution. For example, just look at Xbox Live versus Games for Windows Live versus Steam. Two of them are successful, while one is a miserable failure bec...

But, as far as we know, you will be paying for service, not the games. Perhaps similar to Netflix, with some sort of limited distribution method. There are a lot of alternatives than just the simple "pay 60 dollars for this and you can play it over the cloud" distribution method.

Though those concerns are seemingly an obvious "problem" for what we accept as standard now, more than likely this will become an integrated part of what exists today, or some form thereof. Complete independence from hardware will not exist, and thus, though it might change the playing field, won't erase the ballpark from the game ;).

Also, if you think about it, instead of you owning the hardware, its like renting it virtually, and thus, all that hardware to make th...

@ 1.3:

Force PC gamers to use a pad? That's one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. One of the primary reasons PC Gamers choose to buy something for the PC is to use the control method, along with the diversity of using any control scheme available on consoles. That feature alone would kill the entire GfW initiative, and Microsoft is already doing a pretty good job of it.

You can always just create a local profile, just like with the 360. You don't need to have a Live tag.

My problem is in the details. Currently, integrated services like GFWL are in their infancy, and thus not done as well. Steam has it right, but it doesn't cover other services of course. GFWL can be cool, but integrated platforms like Xfire and Steam have beaten it to the punch. Honestly, these platforms should be able to be disabled, just like Steam and Xfire. You may hav...

Yeah, Valve is just adding third-party DLC support to Steam, which is something the majority of Steam users have been asking for instead of having to go through EA or GFW (damn MS points) outside of the Steam system. This is an added feature for DLC that is already charged for, something Valve wouldn't do for their own games, but now that they can broaden their feature set on the store.

Hate to break the ignorance but its not the MMO players who are complaining. Still idiots, but they aren't the MMO players.

Last I checked, I knew about this MONTHS ago. Sometimes it has nothing to do with want/rejection, but entirely to do with scheduling, guild rules, artistic direction. Actors aren't fired, they may just not fit what the design has, which can be a decision by the performers or the studio. They might have been primadonnas, Blizzard might have found more available talent, who knows. It could be completely down to mutual agreement after performances were slated.

The flood of Scout players is predictable, and will subside.

The only problem I have, since I haven't tried for the unlocks for my own use, is the significant game-changer that is the Sandman. Being able to stop an uber in its tracks seems odd. Essentially, in the game right now, the Sandman is the Scout's Backburner, and I expect it to be nerfed. I would love if they changed the stun into a "flashbang" effect, but I doubt we will see that much of a drastic change. ...

Though I had my time with SFII back in the day on SNES, I am by no means a SF or even a fighting game enthusiast, just a gamer who loves the strategy and brutality involved, and SFIV had me really excited (bought a 360 for it, and I am a freaking PC owner!).

I suck, for damn sure, but I would say the only thing inaccessible about this game is Seth (who is definitely bugged), its insane to face as a mediocre player at best, playing on the easiest level (I am not going to be braggi...
