Folklore the game would've been perfect fit for the Move controller.
I loved it's gameplay mechanic even though shaking the sixaxis violently got tiring--my guess is that they used it's "limited" range of gestures as best they could.

They'd better be adding something or preparing for fall influx of new people.

I've noticed a bunch of new people (MW2 folks) coming over to Killzone2 over the past two weeks.

Might be that they miss the weighty controls and lack of kiddies.

Fable 2 deserved to win GOTY moreso than Fallout3 which everyone fawned over.
I don't have a XBOX360 (never will) but Fable2 deserved it despite it's shortcomings.

Nice rip, dude. Well done.

The game is for PS3.. so it should be treated as such.

The "double-dip" is clearly a red-herring; PS3 owners (like myself) won't have to double-dip.. so why it is mentioned?

Sure, I'm still not buying the game (too hard) nor do I think the score should be higher (4/5 is fair) but to review the game as if it's targetted towards multi-console owners or xbox-only owners is amateur.

I'd love to see their hydrogen concept car!

Has anyone else noticed the "flatness" of the in-game graphics (especially during combat)?
Look at the ground, it looks like a very cheap texture map of grass.

Sure, the cut-scenes and the main character models are exceptional, but I was expecting so much more!

Ah, I wish Sony would get Level-5 or themselves build a great story-driven JRPG with Killzone2 or Uncharted graphics.

No third-party will give my PS3 much love (MGS4 came close).

As soon as I saw the first leaked footage I realized that this indeed was the game hinted at by the BBC writer.

What's so impressive about this piece of work is the fluidity of the movements.

I thought I was watching a movie of a real dog + chicken (the beak and how chickens eat/swallow stuff) was so spot on.

Superb, simply superb.

I haven't seen Heavy Rain, but this gem has
me floored.. and the upgraded graphics with the awes...

Why is SONY allowing clearly biased sites run these things when they have a perfectly good platform to give their loyal (and eager) users such wares via PS HOME?

I really wonder if it is about "..keep your friends close and enemies closer..""

I rant.. I rant.. any thoughts?

This is by far the best breakdown of the different types of games and the intricacies of level design vis-a-vis graphics.

Anyways.. I was not at all interested in this game at all. However, after playing KZ2 multiplayer I realized that the more players on screen the better it is.

Why is that? Well.. my observation is that everyone dies less often. By that I mean a poor slob will die less often since there are many other people to spread the kill count.

There is nothing racist about that picture.
It depicts one of the many "gods" from Indian folklore. Half-monkey, half-human: Hanuman.

You're right on point; the gameplay and game design are paramount.
The power is there for people who know how (experience, time, vision, etc.) to make their game play and design BETTER. In some cases, it's only possible with the extra power.

People who think that "more power" does not matter should check with PC gamers; they spend gajillions getting the BEST video card and the MOST RAM and the MOST powerful CPU. For what? To play (say as an example) Farcry?

You're correct.

The sad part of the market is such that even though this is an online-heavy title, that title-awareness is critical.
This is one of the primary reasons why it was sold on a disc rather than online. Sure, they can toss all sorts of videos and language packs on one disc, but that's only because they have room to spare.

Gotta keep the retailers happy man.. just look at the insane policy of giving demos to game retailers (Killzone2, R2 demos were re...

Pretty soon people (and developers, especially Mac and PC developers) will start talking about how the massive core-count in upcoming Intel CPUs will be of no use unless the start to devise parallel algorithms.. just like Sony has to right now for the CELL.

As a current server developer, I was shocked to learn that my little $600 PS3 can run circles around my QuadCore intel workstation. Mind you, Sony deliberately gimped the RAM on this machine as otherwise they would not have be...

If you recall, Hideo Kojima said that he's worried about Japanese software developers not keeping up with their Western counterparts.

I love me my MGS4.. but Killzone 2 just blows me away with it's visuals. Sure, they're NOT the same genre, but I'm comparing the visuals only.

Heck, the ONLY RPG I'd like to play that is not going to be ever on the PS3 is Fable 2. I thought I'd be psyched about WKC, but it underwhelmed me. Talk about FF12 with new graphics. Been there,...

You're correct. Slower response does simulate real-life weight. However, one of the questions being raised is why this is not proportional to the weapon at hand.

If I may, your bowling ball analogy is correct. However, what about the same real-life response if instead the person had in their hand a tennis ball?

This is the gist of most valid complaints.

I've played the demo and I don't feel the lag. Or rather, I think my skill as FPS player is low-enough that I don't notice it.
However, having examined videos and supporting thesis as well as disagreements, I've observed:
* People are being nit-picky.
* Is the design decision partly due to the lack of CPU resources for proper sampling of the controller input subsystem?

As rich and awesome the game appears, I wonder if this design decision wasn't based on th...

Don't apologize or retort every time some ignoramus or "critical thinker" pulls a flamebait.

YOU know Sony's first-party games are superb. No need to defend them. They stand on their own.

You know Sony takes risks and they're bringing innovative games to market. The let developers take their sweet time.

You know that Sony are taking ALL game developers kicking and screaming (Gabe Newell, etc) into the multi-core, multi-CPU era. This is how PC g...

I doubt if they would allow lighting sources to be affected. It would ruin the game completely! Although, it would be cool to do this in multiplayer.

Have you guys observed the rag doll death physics. It creeped me out. If you kill a Helgan, he twitches for a while then stops. The ones you encounter first (right around the bend) and shoot on top of the roof, sway in the wind (depends on where and when you shoot them) and then fall down.

Insane.
