The PlayStation®Home Closed Beta test is being extended. Read on for the details...
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has announced that it will extend the closed beta testing periodfor PlayStation®Home gradually throughout summer 2008. PlayStation®Home will then transition to an open beta towards the end of 2008, when it will become available to download for all registered PlayStation®Network users.
PlayStation®Home is the visual representation of the PlayStation Community - a free-to-download, constantly evolving online social gaming service built for PS3 users to meet and share gaming experiences in a High Definition 3D world.
"We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today", said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "Our overarching objective is to provide users with new game experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition."
Further details about this exciting new service will be announced as they become available, so keep checking eu.playstation.com for a chance to get involved in Home.

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"There is a reason that the Castlevania franchise is so beloved and even is seen as part of what started the whole metroidvania genre, given that half of the franchise’s name makes up the genre of course. These titles see players explore vast, generally 2D limited locations where players will battle against all different manner of foes, unlocking new powers and weapons along the way that will help them gain access to previously unreachable areas or breach a barrier blocking their way. Throughout the years, these metroidvanias have each added their own unique takes and quality of life features to try to set themselves apart and make a mark of their own, but how about one that sticks almost as close to the original Castlevania as possible?
Chronicles of the Wolf happens to be just that as Migami Games has made sure to stick as close as possible to the original Castlevania elements for better or worse while putting their own lore on things. Does this retro approach that adheres heavily to the old-school formula work out well for this one or was this hero’s adventure better left for the wolves?"
