Reviews on N4G: Can We Get Rid of Them?

I really don't want to sound like I am whining here. I just think that this is an actual problem that needs to be addressed. Every time a big title comes out we see reviews for that game every single day from a different website. Does N4G really need this?

I have already seen a handful of reviews for Alan Wake and I am sure we will see a mess of Red Dead Revolver reviews soon enough. I like review, I really do. But can we get some sort of system in place where we can just post a link to metacritic or maybe N4G can just get their own aggregate of sorts.

Maybe I am alone on this. Does the continuous string of games reviews bother anybody else?

The pending section get filled with all kind of reviews from ever game site under the sun. Most of them are only ever even acknowledged when they are being approved. They seem like a waist of space (for readers of the site) and time (for contributors who approve them to get them out of the way for the real news).

Doesn't really bother me that much, but it's kind of interesting to see a flood of reviews come in to which no one seems to look or even comment on. Most of the time the reviews that do come in our months late. I know there are different release dates for various countries, but sometimes that isn't even the problem at the time. I wouldn't say do away with the reviews but do something with them.

Before the new site had gone live a few posters stated how they would have liked sub-categories with each individual field. Reviews, Previews, etc. Only problem I can see is how this all would come to the front page, it would be back at square one.

So not really sure what one can do with it, but personally wouldn't do away with them. That's just me.

Reviews are a great indicator and guide to buying a game so they're very important. And the more reviews* the better as collectively they offer a balanced view of how the game is likely to play.

* trusted, established sites

I don't really see the problem. Plus, N4G uses this site to push out news and ratings to their sister site VGreleases. I wouldn't imagine the review featuring going away.

It definitely needs to be streamlined and maybe filtered for those who choose not to view it.

Reviews are gaming news. Getting rid of them is not the answer.

Perhaps filtering them off the front page would be a better.

Also, no way in heck would I ever want to see a link to metacritic on here. That's just the absolutely wrong thing to do if you want to get the best gaming news considering their weighted and altered point scales for determining game scores only hurts the gaming community by rewriting how many sites score a game.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II Review - A Visual Feast Lacking Depth | Chit Hot

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II has now launched, bringing with it some of the most stunning visuals you've ever seen in a game.

The first game lacked depth as well, but the graphics were phenomenal

...not to mention the sound / atmosphere. Especially when using headphones.

Going to be real. I’m playing on my PC and every setting is on high at 60fps locked. The game is beautiful, sounds good in headphones (I’m sorry but Returnal still holds the aural crown), and has an impressive photo mode. Can literally hit that at any time. You won’t have full control at certain times, but it’s impressive. After more than an hour I’ve already started to get bored. The fights are brain dead so far and it is a CRAP ton of walking and listening. I’m over the beginning “theme” of you did this to us (people that have played will get this as not to spoil anything). I literally non stop run every chance I get. Obviously isn’t the whole game but gahdamn. Hopefully it picks up soon. Definitely can’t see this being a 10/10 by any stretch of the imagination because the beginning has gotten so boring. Here’s to a better experience tomorrow or Friday when I pick it back up.

Agreed. I've played about 34 mins & it was boring. I'm going to try again tonight for another half hour or so & see if it gets better.
