Day 12: ADVENTure Contest [Closed]

Congratulations to -Foxtrot for being our Day 11 winner. A total of 13 people guessed correctly the game in question, which was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The hints here were the camouflage clothing, the black and white photo, with the marker heart emblem from the end of the game. I did not think this would be the hardest image to guess yet.

Now, on to Day 12. Remember, DO NOT COMMENT WITH YOUR GUESS. Only PMs to ChrisKriN4Gle will count, and only the first answer provided. One entry per person.

Entries will be allowed for 24 hours after this blog is posted.

Rules and guidelines of this contest are at https://n4g.com/user/blogpo...

The twelfth day has been revealed. Remember, the number of days you guess correctly will go towards the grand prize of a $250 gift card or similar payout.

Oh my god!! I must have looked at that picture like 10 times yesterday and I still didn't get. I even skimmed through a whole walkthrough on Youtube of somebody playing the game 😂

ziggurcat2015d ago

That was my guess, I hope that including the 2019 specifier didn't disqualify my answer with how low the number was.

BlackDoomAx2014d ago

You're lying since the beginning, don't you ?

IamTylerDurden12014d ago

I put Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019)

It had to of counted. Damn, we were 2 of 13 correct, 1 in 6 chance but no good.

The 10th Rider2015d ago

Really surprised that Call of Duty, of everything, was the hardest for people to get right.

If you do this next year, you should add in days that are the "ghost of Christmas past" and the "ghost of Christmas future". The former can be from an older game related to a current game (for example: got a remaster in the current year, a sequel, spinoff, etc . . .) and the latter can be an upcoming game that was announced in the current year.

Christopher2015d ago

Upcoming is way harder to do since I wouldn't be able to curate it myself, it would be something easily searched and provided by PR. But, Christmas Past is a good idea. Let me just zoom in on that SMB3 image and force you folks to guess which game it is based on some blue and green pixels *totally not evil laughter, trust me*

The 10th Rider2015d ago

A lot of fun could be had for past games, haha. For a future game you could always take a screencap from a video, that wouldn't be too as easy to find.

bunt-custardly2015d ago (Edited 2015d ago )

I know you make the rules and I guess I speak for some of those who got yesterday's wrong but...a corner of a photo from the end-game of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? Really? That's kinda lame imo. I thought the Metro poster was pushing it but at least that is something you can see whilst playing, same with load screens. I believe the images should be of in-game content like as you are playing.

/rant and sad I didn't get yesterday's. Humbug!

bunt-custardly2015d ago

Today's is too easy in comparison.

ziggurcat2014d ago

I wouldn't say it's too easy - I'm stumped.

monkey6022015d ago

I did actually search Modern Warfare but found there were no collectables in game and moved on. I wasn't about to search the ending of a game I hadn't played ha

Christopher2014d ago

I don't see how a screenshot from the end of the game isn't in-game.

oasdada2015d ago

i could never have guessed it was modern warfare.. brother im in no postion to tell you how to do your job but i think these pictures should contain some kind of a general hint.. not everyone here has finished a game.. so like if u post a picture of a corner of a magazine laying on the furthest side walk in re2.. most people would only be able to answer that by just randomly guessing. most of them were good hint some even v easy but this and the poster from metro could never have been identified technically. not complaining though just a little nit pick.. love what ur doing Christopher and hope win soon lol and congrats Foxtrot :)

bunt-custardly2014d ago (Edited 2014d ago )

Usually what happens in these types of contests is they are incredibly easy (tied to a premium-rate phone line) so that most people know the answer and call-in or email. The promoter then earns enough revenue from the entries to pay for the incredible prizes. I am not suggesting this happen here but surely more people entering equals more fun and games for everyone? It seems to me very few people enter this contest. How many entries did you get yesterday Christopher? That said, I understand not wanting to make it too-easy though. Gamers are a resourceful bunch.

If it were me, I would somehow tie the game to the day number as a clue of sorts. Like day or month of release. Chart position after one week, number of entries in the series. Total sales to date etc.

monkey6022014d ago

At least if you Google Metro Exodus Poster the 80s lady appears early in the searches so that's easy to accept.

Not many people would be willing to look at the ending of a game a lot of them are likely to be getting as a present in 2 weeks

I'm not annoyed by this by any stretch but do think it was a tad unfair. So few getting it right might show that though. Ah well moving on ...

The 10th Rider2014d ago (Edited 2014d ago )

I dunno, I immediately thought modern warfare and with the sharpie immediately made me think it was a photograph. I just had to find where it was in the game. My guess it a lot less people played through the single player campaign than was expected.

EDIT: But I'd agree making it from the end kind of sucks. Could have found something earlier in the game. Greedfall for instance was recognizable from the first ten minutes.

oasdada2014d ago

this is exactly what happened.. ive played most of the games on that list but havent got around playing MW and wasnt ready to spoil the whole game just for a guess.. if i had some indication i might have looked into it a little.. for example i have never played the outer world but through trailers am aware of its art style so it immediately clicked what that game was.. here it was way too random to formulate a guess.. im not bummed out or anything it was just a thought. yeah moving on and on to the next!

bunt-custardly2014d ago (Edited 2014d ago )

@oasdada Art Style is key to figuring these out. So a photo which doesn't represent the actual game is a massive red-herring. Excluding ziggurcat who just seems like a BOT at this point (only kidding) congrats to those who figured it out especially if they didn't play the game. That's either very lucky or you are of some higher gaming guessing level than most.

I've said enough on this topic now. Moving-on at last.

The 10th Rider2014d ago (Edited 2014d ago )

I haven't played Call of Duty in years. It looked like a military uniform to me and that narrowed it down to Ghost Recon, the Division, or Call of Duty. Seemed to fit Call of Duty's artstyle better so that was my pick. A quick search of "Call of Duty Sharpie" showed images that were somewhat similar with the sharpie like writing, so I looked around a bit more until I found it.

I suppose what Christopher should do is examine who's getting answers correct. If it's like 75% the same people every time, they should probably reconsider how it's done to spread out the prizes. If it's 25% the same people and 75% new people guessing right each day then that's not too bad.

Still think it should have been something earlier in the game though.

ziggurcat2014d ago

@bunt:

Yeah, the art style is pretty key in figuring things out. Sometimes it really narrows the field down a bit. Once I realized that the last one was camo, and not (what appeared to me at first) a kimono, I was able to whittle the games down to only a few choices.

So far I haven't been able to locate where this image has been taken from. Given what the games have been so far, I probably haven't played this one. Or if I have, it's so obscure that you really needed to be paying a lot of attention to the environment.

Dirtnapstor2014d ago (Edited 2014d ago )

The camo pattern on the clothing kind of narrowed it down quite a bit. I had to chew on it for a while before I made my decision, but yay me!

Christopher2014d ago

The point isn't for people to get every entry correct. The point is to make it a challenge depending on one's knowledge of the games, not to make it easy so everyone can be included in the daily lotto.

And this had obvious hints. Camouflage clothing from a modern setting should set you on track for but a handful of games from this year. Then you have to look for a black/white photo and find the mark on it. But, if you've played the game, it becomes even easier as it's pretty hard to miss.

I get the disappointment in not knowing the answer or not being able to find it with what was provided. That doesn't mean it's "too hard" because you didn't get it. Some crossword puzzles are harder than others. Some of these images are harder than others, and you may not realize how hard some are solely because of your familiarity with the game in question.

oasdada2014d ago

Im not saying that im just saying it was a relatively new game and most would not have even finished it by now.. all i was trying to say was try using screenshots from earlier parts of the game.. i dont want to criticise ur work ut doing great i was just suggesting please try using content from earlier parts of the game, and ur right about the difficulty because i guessed dmc one wrong.. even though i have finished the game 3 or 4 times.. like i said again i really appreciate what ur doing i was just trying to say it just dint feel it was from a cod game because it wasnt in game thats all .. cheers mate :)

IamTylerDurden12014d ago

I think the contest is perfect, it needs to be hard that's the point.
