Evolve Dlc And Microtransactions Disaster...

Many fellows of N4G here might not have noticed how ugly and downright disgusting Turtle Rock Studios and Take two have made the dlc and microtransactions in the game. So i am here to shed some light on the matter. So after you pay 60$ for the full game or that's what you expect, you need to pay this amount for the full game experience.

Here’s the full information on the Evolve Hunting Season Pass:

Includes four new playable Hunter characters available this spring, one in each class: Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support.

Includes three Monster skins at launch, exclusive to the Evolve Hunting Season Pass: Magma Goliath, Magma Kraken, and Magma Wraith

The Evolve Hunting Season Pass contains $29.96 of content for $24.99

The four playable Hunter characters will be available for purchase individually outside of the Evolve Hunting Season Pass for $7.49 each.

The game has a Season Pass which cost 25$ that gives you three exclusive useless skins. In which each skin is valued up to 3$ each. Really? A skin cost 3$. A skin that a normal PC modder can do very easily cost 3$.

Four playable hunter characters that cost 7.50$ individually. Thats 30$ for four characters.

Now if that doesn't bother you then i am sure this will. You can buy the the fourth Monster The Behemoth individually for 15$.

Not only that, there is also the microtransactions in the game. Which is essentially you paying 3$ for a weapon skin or a monster skin. That could have been easily inserted in the game as an unlockable award once you reach a certain level or do a certain task but NO! You have to pay for them.

So why is this disgusting. Because you are essentially paying for half the game as DLC.

The full game ships with twelve hunters and three monsters for the price of 60$ including all game modes. And you have to pay 45$ in order to get the fourth monster and the four playable hunters. So that's 105$. Combine that with the microtransactions which should and could have been easily implemented as unlockables. You are talking about 150$ or more to play the full game. I cant accept that and neither should you. Or to be more accurate 180$ right now. Thats the price of three new games. This greed is unjustified.

Many players said the game content does not justify 60$. It doesn't even justify 30$.

I would like to show you what Phil Robb, Turtle Rock co-founder said and i quote “I would buy this game for 150 dollars easily,” Then i want you to judge by yourself if the game worth 150$, let alone 60$.

What is also more shameful is that Gamespot and Polygon gave the game 8/10 and didn't even mention neither the dlc or microtransactions and seems to be ok with. i also read that those reviewers get the dlc for free. So offcourse they wouldn't have to worry about that.

I also forgot to mention what 2K flat out and said that the game is being built upon dlc. This is truly a sad day for gaming. I remember when we used to buy a full game with everything in it. No dlc/Microtransactions/Locked in disk content things we have to worry about.

Should we accept this and give the developers our money willingly for such an outrageous practice? I sure as hell made up my mind by not giving them anything. I really wish you vote with your wallets and stop
supporting any developer who does this kind of practice. This is getting out of hand and if we don't do anything about this now. Then things will get uglier as we progress into this new gen.

Lol I though there were more monsters. Just 3 and get the fourth one for $15? Ridiculous! This game is a microtransaction fest and deserves no support. But who Am I kidding? People will still buy it and devs will get away with this. This will never stop.

Sad State of Gaming.

DarkOcelet3786d ago

Believe me, many players said the game was so light in content. You can practically try every mode and play with every monster and hunter in less than 2 hours.

And no story in this game. I cant believe sites are giving it such a high score.

Wizard_King3785d ago (Edited 3785d ago )

The whole thing stinks so bad I can smell it down here in Australia lol, here the game is $79.95 and the dlc scales accordingly. Our currency is comparable with the USD. For a digital only title with no overheads is just a disgrace.

Buuuuuuut. No one complained when EA and Dice did this same thing with BF3 and BF4. They set the precedent for this shit unchallenged and when I tried to mention these things at the time my then multi bubble previous account was reduced to one like now.

But I do troll it a bit for shits and gigs these days lol.

Base game plus map packs or "premium" and then paid for class unlocks could all total up over $200 here.

It is what it is and it's only going to get much much worse. I blame those that have been raised on last gen consoles only. It's their appathy and lack of knowing any better that has lead to this.

:(

It's getting to a point where these types of games should either be F2P or retail at half the price.

If I was to spend $60 on any of the F2P games I've poured hours into I would see far more content than most of the full retail games released recently. It is indeed a sad state of affairs. :/

DarkOcelet3786d ago

True. If this was f2p then i wouldnt mind all those skins prices but its not. Its a 60$ retail game that should be a full game. I dont usually say i wish a game would fail so hard but this here, i cant accept it at all and wish it would fail to show those greedy bastards that people are not putting up to this $hit anymore.

I wonder why Evolve is not a free to play game. Then paying for DLC and microtransanctions would make more sense

PrimeGrime3784d ago

Sad state of reality in general. This extends far beyond the gaming industry.

So many companies take advantage of people. While very few actually acknowledge the fact, the majority just accepts it and continues to buy their products anyway. The rest of us more logical folk suffer in return.

In this day and age, we get ripped off with just about everything there is. No one cares enough, just like you said, so it will only get worse as time goes by.

DarkOcelet3784d ago (Edited 3784d ago )

Exactly, i cant believe people disagreed with me when i heard that Battlefront had 5 dlc packs that seemed to be announced now.

http://n4g.com/news/1671409...

The amount of disagrees tells you that people seem to be accepting dlc as part of the game and dont mind paying 120$ or more for the 'Premium Experience'.

DefenderOfDoom23786d ago

I just wish developers and publishers would go back to focusing on making great FPS campaigns like Wolfenstien New Order which has no DLC .

The only game coming out that i can think of , that will focus on a FPS campaign is DOOM, which we might see at the first ever Bethesda E3 press conference this June.

newflesh3786d ago

I really hope this game bombs hard

LightDiego3786d ago

This is unnaceptable, even more funny these reviewers saying nothing about the subject. Perfect example of a greedy company and corrupt journalism.

HammadTheBeast3786d ago

That's what's making me so mad, in the 7/10, 8/10 reviews I've seen, NO ONE is talking about the BS microtransactions.

DarkOcelet3786d ago

Now IGN has given the game 9/10 . **** them.

Chronicles of the Wolf Review [Capsule Computers]

Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:

"There is a reason that the Castlevania franchise is so beloved and even is seen as part of what started the whole metroidvania genre, given that half of the franchise’s name makes up the genre of course. These titles see players explore vast, generally 2D limited locations where players will battle against all different manner of foes, unlocking new powers and weapons along the way that will help them gain access to previously unreachable areas or breach a barrier blocking their way. Throughout the years, these metroidvanias have each added their own unique takes and quality of life features to try to set themselves apart and make a mark of their own, but how about one that sticks almost as close to the original Castlevania as possible?

Chronicles of the Wolf happens to be just that as Migami Games has made sure to stick as close as possible to the original Castlevania elements for better or worse while putting their own lore on things. Does this retro approach that adheres heavily to the old-school formula work out well for this one or was this hero’s adventure better left for the wolves?"
