Many fellows of N4G here might not have noticed how ugly and downright disgusting Turtle Rock Studios and Take two have made the dlc and microtransactions in the game. So i am here to shed some light on the matter. So after you pay 60$ for the full game or that's what you expect, you need to pay this amount for the full game experience.
Here’s the full information on the Evolve Hunting Season Pass:
Includes four new playable Hunter characters available this spring, one in each class: Assault, Trapper, Medic, and Support.
Includes three Monster skins at launch, exclusive to the Evolve Hunting Season Pass: Magma Goliath, Magma Kraken, and Magma Wraith
The Evolve Hunting Season Pass contains $29.96 of content for $24.99
The four playable Hunter characters will be available for purchase individually outside of the Evolve Hunting Season Pass for $7.49 each.
The game has a Season Pass which cost 25$ that gives you three exclusive useless skins. In which each skin is valued up to 3$ each. Really? A skin cost 3$. A skin that a normal PC modder can do very easily cost 3$.
Four playable hunter characters that cost 7.50$ individually. Thats 30$ for four characters.
Now if that doesn't bother you then i am sure this will. You can buy the the fourth Monster The Behemoth individually for 15$.
Not only that, there is also the microtransactions in the game. Which is essentially you paying 3$ for a weapon skin or a monster skin. That could have been easily inserted in the game as an unlockable award once you reach a certain level or do a certain task but NO! You have to pay for them.
So why is this disgusting. Because you are essentially paying for half the game as DLC.
The full game ships with twelve hunters and three monsters for the price of 60$ including all game modes. And you have to pay 45$ in order to get the fourth monster and the four playable hunters. So that's 105$. Combine that with the microtransactions which should and could have been easily implemented as unlockables. You are talking about 150$ or more to play the full game. I cant accept that and neither should you. Or to be more accurate 180$ right now. Thats the price of three new games. This greed is unjustified.
Many players said the game content does not justify 60$. It doesn't even justify 30$.
I would like to show you what Phil Robb, Turtle Rock co-founder said and i quote “I would buy this game for 150 dollars easily,” Then i want you to judge by yourself if the game worth 150$, let alone 60$.
What is also more shameful is that Gamespot and Polygon gave the game 8/10 and didn't even mention neither the dlc or microtransactions and seems to be ok with. i also read that those reviewers get the dlc for free. So offcourse they wouldn't have to worry about that.
I also forgot to mention what 2K flat out and said that the game is being built upon dlc. This is truly a sad day for gaming. I remember when we used to buy a full game with everything in it. No dlc/Microtransactions/Locked in disk content things we have to worry about.
Should we accept this and give the developers our money willingly for such an outrageous practice? I sure as hell made up my mind by not giving them anything. I really wish you vote with your wallets and stop
supporting any developer who does this kind of practice. This is getting out of hand and if we don't do anything about this now. Then things will get uglier as we progress into this new gen.
Skewed and Reviewed have posted some gameplay from the new game.
The legendary composer celebrates forty years of game composing with a new collection.
Travis Bruno of Capsule Computers writes:
"There is a reason that the Castlevania franchise is so beloved and even is seen as part of what started the whole metroidvania genre, given that half of the franchise’s name makes up the genre of course. These titles see players explore vast, generally 2D limited locations where players will battle against all different manner of foes, unlocking new powers and weapons along the way that will help them gain access to previously unreachable areas or breach a barrier blocking their way. Throughout the years, these metroidvanias have each added their own unique takes and quality of life features to try to set themselves apart and make a mark of their own, but how about one that sticks almost as close to the original Castlevania as possible?
Chronicles of the Wolf happens to be just that as Migami Games has made sure to stick as close as possible to the original Castlevania elements for better or worse while putting their own lore on things. Does this retro approach that adheres heavily to the old-school formula work out well for this one or was this hero’s adventure better left for the wolves?"
Lol I though there were more monsters. Just 3 and get the fourth one for $15? Ridiculous! This game is a microtransaction fest and deserves no support. But who Am I kidding? People will still buy it and devs will get away with this. This will never stop.
Sad State of Gaming.
This makes me wanna puke.
I just wish developers and publishers would go back to focusing on making great FPS campaigns like Wolfenstien New Order which has no DLC .
The only game coming out that i can think of , that will focus on a FPS campaign is DOOM, which we might see at the first ever Bethesda E3 press conference this June.
I really hope this game bombs hard
This is unnaceptable, even more funny these reviewers saying nothing about the subject. Perfect example of a greedy company and corrupt journalism.
