Okay, so, I’ve got this gimmicky thing called a Wii. Yeah it’s fun, if you like bowling, tennis, or four player party games. Why did I buy the Wii you ask? That’s simple. It’s a ‘revolutionary’ console. The motion sensing controls can’t be done anywhere else (and don’t even say, “oh, but the six axis”, no). I’d be willing to bet that’s why all
those grandparents have been picking these things up too. The controls are completely unique to the Wii. So, you ask, what’s the issue? Well, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but a number of new games, including first party Nintendo titles, are coming out and supporting old control methods. Standard, traditional, Nintendo Gamecube style, control methods. Let’s see, there’s the insanely anticipated Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Supports not only traditional NES style sideways controlling, but even the Gamecube controller, which, if I remember correctly, most people didn’t like in the first place. Newest of the games supporting all style of control is Mario Kart Wii. While this game will support the Wii motion sensing control method, it will also support every other control possible.
Why is this bad? In a way it is good, you can play the game anyway you want. However, why did I even buy a Wii? I could still be playing these games on my Gamecube. Seriously, the graphics aren’t improving dramatically, if at all. The online support is yet to be really integrated. The Mii’s are fun for only so long. Third-party support has yet to really show much promise. So, all you really have that sets the Wii apart from the rest are the unique controls. Tell me I’m wrong.
Seeing as how games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band are so successful. Why Wii? I could have just as easily bought a peripheral or a steering wheel of some sort for my Gamecube.
Boom!

When the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S first launched all the way back in 2020, console sales were not what either platform manufacturer wanted them to be. The pandemic slowed things down more than ever before, even though in the case of each next-gen console, all the units that were manufactured, sold.
Of course that didn’t last, and soon manufacturing limitations on the consoles were a thing of the past, and sales started to leap forward. For one next-gen console platform, at least.
I can see why Microsoft is putting their games on PlayStation with these numbers
Imagine how many copies of future games like Elder Scrolls VI, Blade, Indiana Jones and more they could sell if they went fully multiplatform.
Sucker Punch’s massive samurai adventure Ghost of Tsushima has come under fire because of the PSN requirement. However, unlike Helldivers 2, things are a lot different and more logical this time.
"Sony has made it clear long before its release that the PSN requirement is strictly for the online multi-player Legends mode in Ghost of Tsushima and the PlayStation overlay. Online connection or PSN is not applied to the single-player campaign, which is honestly what the game is all about."
Legends clearly was based around using the pan they hardly want to have to design a whole new account structure just to play it, that's alot of effort and work. Ultimately people kicked up a fuss despite there being workarounds in most of those territories that people with a ps console have used over there for literally like 15/16 years. This is the consequence of that, be careful what you wish for or demand because you don't necessarily get to pick the method by which you get it.
CG writes: In this video we take a look at the full game of HAMMER95’s Mullet MadJack on PC in 4K. This is a rather cool rogue-like first-person shooter where you have to survive for 10 seconds by increasing your timer for each kill. Not the most original of ideas, but works wonders in context of the 80/90s aesthetic. Game releases May 15th.
It's called options and seeing that the Wii has 4 ports for GC controlers why not. Zack & Wiki, Batalion Wars, along with the fun light gun games, combination of standard and motion sensing games all have a place. Along with traditional playing of games. Not every single game should be forced to use motion just like not every single game should be forced to have multiplayer and online components.
By your rant you are apparently not a fan of the Wii so why bother? You start off calling it a gimick on your first sentence. Yeah that'll get Wii owners to consider your opinion...
what is wrong with more options on control schemes?
"However, why did I even buy a Wii? I could still be playing these games on my Gamecube."
have fun playing the upcoming games on your GCN XD
