2 awards down and many to go. This is probably the most controversial category other than the actual Game of the Year award. There were plenty of BIG name FPS throughout the year if you think about it, but these are the best of the best, and there can only be one winner.
And the nominees for 2009 FPS Game of the Year Award are.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Halo 3: ODST
Killzone 2
Left 4 Dead 2
Metroid Prime Trilogy
"The Paris-based (France) indie games publisher and developer COVEN, are today super thrilled and happy to announce that their surreal hand-drawn 2D physics-based adventure/puzzle game "Micromega", is soon coming to PC via Steam." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Even if you aren’t a fan of roguelikes, Blue Prince feels much more like an elaborate puzzle box. There’s a satisfying feeling in making it further than you did before, finding clues to a puzzle, then stumbling onto another piece of that puzzle a few runs later. Blue Prince is certainly one of the most interesting games of this year. It takes a fairly novel concept in a roguelike puzzle game, adding elements of deckbuilding and base crafting. It all comes together for a gameplay experience unlike anything else out there today."
Days Gone Remastered is now available, and if you’re looking to find out how it compares with the original PS4 version, read ahead.
Huge difference i must admit, but not sure i would notice without 2 screens next to each other.
Not getting this game still, i want a new game and im tired of remasters
I spoiled myself by modding this game on my PC. Genuinely one of the best looking games I've ever seen. Whilst this remaster looks nice it just doesn't compare to that sadly. It shows the effort that these remasters could put in if they wanted
I so hope this game or DLC for those of us who own the original sells well.
Ive said it before, its an underrated game for sure & was unfairly judged upon release.
Please try this game if you haven't already.
For those who say 'i won't purchase digital only' you can pickup a hard copy for 5 bucks here in Australia, then add the DLC and you have a superb game for $20 or so.
Give it a shot, tell me I'm wrong After completing the game.
Game on gamers.
OK so I tricked you. Unlike other sites, if there is more than one game deserving of winning the award then there will be 2 or more winners.
Killzone- Had an amazing single player campaign no matter what naysayers have to say. It was one of the best single player experience I had this year. It felt like war, and you were doing you part to bring down the enemy. The thing that made the single player stand out was the hate between both sides. Men and Women were killed, Rico spitting on Radec's dead body just shows how much these two sides hate one another, which is what put it over the top for me. Throw in a very good online multiplayer that supports 32 people, and it's a no brainer that Killzone 2 deserves a spot.
Metroid Prime Trilogy- A 40+ hour of single player campaign need I say more. Metroid Prime is the Nintendo Wii's Orange Box. The only real downside to Metroid Prime Trilogy is that if you own the first 3 games then there's no real need to buy this one. However, if you don't then prepare for days of gaming goodness (which could be a downside as well since you'll be playing with the Wiimote for hours.)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2- Is this game over hyped. Yes. But that doesn't mean it isn't good. Call of Duty provides a short, but action packed single player campaign designed to keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Once you're done with the single player which should take no more than 1 day, you can go on to enjoy one of the best online multiplayer games EVER. You don't have to worry about finding matches, because games are ALWAYS running, just hop on and play. Not to mention the co-op.
As you can tell I'm leaning more towards the Killzone 2 side, but all 3 games are amazing, and are the best FPS for their consoles (PS3 owners get the bonus of having both Killzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2).
I would have to go with Killzone 2, followed by Modern Warfare 2.
Look at my gamer picture. That being said, I say Killzone 2. ODST and MW2 had too short campaigns, Metroid was re-released, and L4D2 isn't that different from 1.
