Ubisoft+ looks like it will launch for consoles soon, and we now have a new list of games that will be available with Ubisoft+ on Xbox.
A standalone version of the Ubisoft Plus Classics subscription service is now available on the PlayStation Store.
I wonder who the nut jobs are that will get this. Seriously Ubisoft isn't worth a sub and having this along side ps+ y'all must be rich.
Disclaimer: It's always cheaper purchasing the entire Ubisoft Game Edition when they're on sale.
Exactly. Ubisoft prices plummet soo fast and hit some incredible lows. I probably wouldn't own every Assassin's Creed game if it weren't for the dirt cheap sales they hit.
This service is for the severely uninformed. These games are in bargain bin why rent them monthly?
Exactly you can pickup most of their backlog for 5 bucks a pop with change I've seen some older titles go for as little as $1 like watch dogs
Ubisoft really think to highly of themselves.
I could buy most of their classic library for under 20 bucks at this stage
Remember when Ubisoft used to be Splinter cell, old school ghost recon and rainbow 6 and you were excited for them?
Yeah those early Splinter Cell games - how you felt like a total bad ass when you clicked that night vision in place... loved those games
Man I remember getting excited about Ubi back in the day. The Watch Dogs reveal, Ubi arts indie games, Rayman etc. They've fallen so far from grace it's incredible
I was looking at this last night. I can't even find how much it cost on the page from psn.
Atleast ea gives a damn price.
On top of that. The ea, and the ubisoft sub doesn't have enough games. Hell the ea one only got madden 24 on there because the nfl season is over.
Companies like Ubisoft really need to get it into their heads that their services are not nor will they ever be worth a stand alone subscription or launcher
$8 doesn't seem bad for one month. Could play through both South Park games and sample some of the other games to decide if you want to purchase.
Yeah you can keep that. We could just carry on forever with the amount of subscription services around now. You will own nothing.
Ubisoft has revamped its Ubisoft+ subscription service, but Sony needs to get in on its Premium tier for PS5 as Xbox continues to boast better day-one access.
Why, do people really want this. 17.99 lol ubisoft slow down. Should be 10 at most
They want WAY more than PS+ Premium costs, and this site is trying to spin it as if PS fans are missing out by not getting ripped off by Ubisoft...
10 years from now: Why doesn't PS7 have all 10 options for game subscriptions services? Why is it still focusing on selling games!?
I think the game subscription service bubble will have popped by then, just like it's popping right now for movie and show subscription services. It's evolving the exact same way... A couple services pop up that offer it all, the content providers start getting greedy and decide to launch their own services and begin pulling content from the original services to make it exclusive to their own, people get sick of having to have 10 different subs pulling $100 a month out of their accounts, and it all goes belly up.
Not sure why it’s not on PS but hopefully that changes. The more options the better.
@Mr Logic
I know :) I just meant I dislike the fact that "they" shove tv, movie, game and whatnot-subscriptions down our throats. The endresult for me and my wife at least, is that we start to avoid them altogether.
So in the long run these companies actually loose money on us. I just wish more people would boycott it so we can get rid of 90% of the crap ones out there. (subscriptions that is) :)
@ Zeke
I get where you're coming from. Besides PS+ and Prime (for the shipping) I haven't had any subscription for 5+ years.
N4G - the hive mind see it as a negative light on Papa PlayStation when @Two said they're not sure why it's not on PS. Anything that can be taken even as slight criticism is downvoted by the drones.
It's enough with the free package we get with Ubisoft.
Would never pay 18$/month for this, that's way more than I pay for PS+ Premium.
“The new Ubisoft+ and getting gamers comfortable with not owning their games.”
“PS5’s lack of Ubisoft+ Premium is both frustrating and confusing.”
So they want PlayStation gamers to get on board with not owning anything they paid for ownership of.
who is confused and frustrated? I know gamers aren't. Paying $18 per month for UBI games is a confusing prank.
They should have it, as people like options, right now I played some Avatar and the new Prince of Persia for $17.99. That comes out to $100 savings for two games I would most likely not have purchased right now.
I love how on this site, GP gets dissed, Ubisoft + gets dissed, but yet when they announce new PS+ games like Foam Stars, you have people saying, oh it's smart to put it in PS+ because it will get more fans, and, it's the same when they add a new wave of games to PS+ that have been on GP for months, all of a sudden it becomes, "oh wow, great month, "oh man, I have been waiting to play this". All the game ownership talk goes out the window.
Hypocrites.
Obviously you're picky with what posts you get into.
PSPortal get dissed, Last of Us get dissed, PS Plus pricing get dissed (even if it still is cheaper that GPU), FFXVI get dissed, Jim get dissed, Neil Druckmann get dissed, GAAS games on PS get dissed....
I can keep on forever...
However, there is Nintendo fanboys here, PS fanboys, Xbox fanboys and PC Masterrace.
Wherever you'll look, they're there, everywhere. You just chose to see the bad stuff being said bout your precious piece of electronic.
That's not what the articles about, the article author wants it to be included with PS+ Premium, which seems like a bad idea that would only increase the cost of Premium.
So stop paying Sony for anything but essential. When sony raised the price of extra and premium it instantly became not worth the money.
Stop paying for services or we're going to keep getting garbage services like what ubi wants to bring in.
UbiSoft + Classics is a part of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium.
UbiSoft + Premium would be $18 a month on top of your Plus subscription. What people are saying is that they don't think it is worth pay $30/40 a month just on gaming subscriptions. At what point would you complain about Monthly subs? $50/month... $150/month. A lot of people don't would never by 3 Ubisoft games a year so why would we spend $200 a year on this (on top of our other subs)? In addition lets say you had both an Xbox and a PlayStation... you want people to have to pay for Plus, GamePass and Ubisoft Premium? Just those 3 subs will set you back $600 a year.
No one really said anything about Xbox but if you want to compare, right now for the price, Plus is a much better deal and has WAY more games.... like hundreds more. (Sure Xbox could add all the Activision games tomorrow and raise the price) but for now Plus is the better deal by a country mile. The new games they added yesterday alone are better than the crap GP announced yesterday (save Persona 3). It becoming another Plus vs GWG comparison.
Have you tried GamePass? More newer games, day one 1st party games and it includes EA play. I get that it's subjective, but there's more people with GamePass than PS Extra and PS Premium subs for a reason. MS is bleeding a lot of money into it and it shows.
How did you save any money if you weren't going to buy either of those games? You didn't, you spent 18$ on two games you weren't going to buy by your own statement, granted at least you have more games to also play for the 18$ instead of 100$ for two games so money better spent but you saved no money cause you still spent money on them.
Haha,
I see what your point is getting at, but I should have been more clear. The two games I mentioned I was interested in playing, but not at full price, I would have gotten PoP on a sale 100%, and Avtar at some point.
So based on my statement, you are correct, but I wasn't clear on my point, That is one big draw of sub-services for me, games I may be on the fence about, or games I would normally wait for a sale or secondhand. Either way, I am playing both games and both seem good atm, def worth $18 lol.
I don't trust what you're saying for some reason. These red flags seem to be popping up everywhere, almost like you're part of a ubi defense force .
Ubi games aren't good enough to charge an $18 a month USD premium. I live in Canada so it's even more then $20 a month.
Ubi are delusional if they truly think people are willing to give up ownership and pay over $200usd a year. Sorry ... not going to happen
If the future is stacking subs on top of subs then I can't see it having a very long future. That is just an expensive mess for consumers. In fact I hope more big publishers do this not because it is great but because it will hurt the "supposed" value propositions of subs and we can just go back to works best, buying the games you want rather than getting 99% of games you won't play.
Exactly, this is going exactly like video streaming services. It was great at first but now there are 10 different ones, they combined to be "better values" but they aren't cause you aren't going to watch most of the stuff, it's become cable TV all over again cause no amount of money is enough, they want every cent on the table and it's just making the services worse honestly. That's the future of GASS and game streaming. Bundles, and passes that really are wasted of money. When you could of just paid 60-70$ (US) and had the same experience and had more money in your pocket in the long run.
The only way I see it being worth it is if you can log in on any system and access your account. If someone owns say a PC and multiple consoles I think it wild suck if it required a subscription for each system.
They do not have enough games worth paying $17.99 a month for, and if you made an epic acct, or have had an Ubisoft acct over the last several years you most likely have half of their library that's worth owning been given out for free! They practically give out their games at random points throughout the years on PC. So do yourselves a favour, make an epic acct, check your prime acct (should you have Amazon prime), check Ubi's site throughout the year, you'll most likely be getting several of this games for free.
I’m so tired of articles shilling for these GaaS subs. I don’t want them. Don’t need them, don’t want to spend my hard earned money supporting them.
Whoevers paying for this subscription in the first place is out of their mind.
PlayStation doing a gamers a service if this never comes to PlayStation, honestly.
$216 for a year at $18/month...
What a ripoff, does Ubisoft even release $200 worth of brand new games per year?
Ubisoft used to make good games during the PS2 and PS3 eras, but now they only make junk. Why waste money to subscribe to Ubijunk?
If you must play Ubijunk games, wait until they drop down to $10, that way, their rushed out trash games have been fully patched by that point.
I play one Ubisoft game and I’m done for 5 years before I have an itch to play another. Their games are generic and formulaic
I play games on PC and PS5 and have had Ubisoft+ in the past, please don't try and make it seem like anyone who doesn't have Ubisoft+ is missing out on something because they really aren't. PS+ has more value by far.
I'm neither confused nor frustrated, and now that the idiot at Ubisoft came out and said we should get comfortable with not owning our games, he just basically ensured that I would never subscribe to it. Keep that rubbish well away from my PS5!
Ubisoft has rebranded its subscription offering and introduced a new service for PC players. 'more to come' on Activision Blizzard
"Gamers are used to owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen"
:(
Lol. I don't understand how people still want an all digital future, those are the people ok with not owning "their" games. "Convenient " Just get up and switch the disc 🙄. My BG3 copy comes Q2 2024. I don't "own" Alan Wake 2, and have no plans to until its released as a physical copy. Smdh.
Literally everything they blasted MS for when they revealed the Xbox One is not only coming true, but lovingly welcomed.
You seemed to be confused between the debate of owning physical versus owning digital games, and the debate of subscribing to versus owning a game. These are two separate issues.
I will say there is a misconception on the physical vs. digital debate which is that own a physical disc is just owning an install disc. You're still installing the actual game into your hard drive just like owning it digitally.
I totally would rather have physical discs but the problem nowadays is that a lot of games are not finished. Several have gamebreaking bugs that could stall your progress late in a game. So these games need a Day 1 patch or several patches to remedy the issues. I wouldn't care much to play vanilla Cyberpunk from a disc if I could no longer receive patches. The problem is with games being rushed out the door with "Gone Gold" status.
I have disability’s I have great internet. I like digital it is easier to do with my disabilities . Everyone is different. If you like physical disk that’s fine others like me like not changing disk. I have never been not able to redownload are stream any game I paid for
It's mostly lazy and dumb people I see supporting digital games. I could understand if the digital versions were at least discounted since they cost less to make but they aren't so there is no good reason to get the digital version when the physical is available.
Escamotage, at least you get theres not only a code on the disc lol. Im not confused in the least though digital is digital, whether its subscription based or your buying your games from a digital store front. You dont own them. They undid it, but point in case is the removal of the Discovery Channel videos from customers. Its entirely possible for them to take your digital purchases. They'd have to physically come to my home and take my games. If the internet is ever tampered with I can play any of my games. A lot of hypotheticals but its possible.
Same. I mean what kind of statement is that? Gamers need to unite against this bs.
Gamers are uniting alright, and filling up these corperate pockets. I tried to start a crusade when they introduced horse armor dlc that was only useful for making fancy screenshots but I digress. Now every game has a battlepass, its sickening.
Publishers need to start feeling comfortable with having their games pirated.
Oh, you didn't like that one? Hmmm....
I mean how DARE people want to own something they spend their hard earned money on, despicable behaviour!
It’s what companies want so they get a steady stream of income. Screw that. Imma stop gaming if everything is streaming, digital, cloud. Playing my retro machines are perfectly fine for me.
Just look at the drop in quality from other subscription media. They push out content to fill quotas now. Not to make a memorable film or TV show. I worry this will be the future for gaming. Vote with your wallets.
$18/month is a big cost for people who can get most of the older catalogue for cheap as heck.
Right? And if I've learned anything is to not buy their games at launch, ever, because they plummet in price faster than any other major 3rd party studio that I can think of.
Ubi isn't good enough for me to ever consider a service from them. And know that their plan is "you'll own nothing " further hardens my stance.
Maybe if they made good games but they don't and I'm sure not paying more then the cost of psplus. Infact I canceled extra when the raised the price 30%
Ubisoft knows it and that's probably why they include it in Game Pass and PS Premium.
No, it isn't included with PS+ or GP. EA play is included with GP only. UBI is a standalone subscription.
@GotGame818 I can literally play the Ubisoft classics with my PS Plus subscription. There's a section for it.
its a sad estimate that nothing you pay for is actually yours these days.
hard pass.
Ubisoft is a somewhat odd company to offer a subscription service since their games don't retain value. Typically, within a month or two, you can find them at significantly lower prices. Therefore, including new releases and DLC in the subscription is essentially their only method to justify the subscription cost and give it some semblance of value.
The time of year they usually release they can be had on black friday sales everywhere. For half the price.
They don't retain value because they are cookie cutter reskins of the same game mechanics over and over in every game.
Who the hell is even paying for this? The Prince Persia game I heard was great but that's one game out many old games on the service. 1 game won't entice ppl to pay a pricey monthly subscription they need many, many great games but unfortunately Ubisoft can barely get any games out anymore.
I remember the PS2 days, Ubi were beast then, now they are a shell of their former selves, just a FC and AC machine.
The issue with the Prince of Persia's success is that now this will be the Prince of Persia going forward outside the remake already in development. They will do what they've done to AC and Far Cry where it will be the same type of game again and again and again. It will forever be a side scroller in the same style with the same non Prince character most likely.
The only way that changes is if they knock it out of the park with the PoP remake and it does fantastic sale wise.
Prince of Persia isn't a game worth subscribing for, but their heavy hitters like AC or Far Cry (where you blow 100 hours) you pay $18 (it was $15 before the rebrand) to play the game day one instead of $70. Sounds like saving money to me.
"So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game."
Cheeky bastard. And you better get bloody comfortable with me pirating the shit out of all of your future games! And this is from someone who thoroughly enjoys Ubisoft's open world titles and has been buying them for years.
Ubisoft just sucks as bad as other of the big companies like Electronic Arts ..I didnt buy a game from them since ages.
I haven't bought a game by EA since NHL 94 on Genesis. Actually, my parents bought that, but you know what I mean. Those games were bangers too.
Hah..well..couldnt resist to buy the Burnout games and Black on PS2
I HATE EA with a passion for buying and destroying the devs behind the Outlaw Golf /Tennis /Volleyball games
Have to say this comment section is pretty different than a few years ago when MS was first pushing game pass and all digital. Ton of people were all for a streaming game service, is it just because it's Ubisoft or is it because streaming services for games is just a terrible idea?
Yuck, I hate the idea of this. Fortunately I think there'll always be people like me who innately love physical media and won't really go for this stuff.
I really hope nobody subscribes to ubisoft+ , i know i won't. I just recently bought avatar frontiers of pandora on disc because for some reason the digital version would not go on sale. I have already pre ordered the digital version of Prince of Persia and that will be my last digital game ever bought from ubisoft. I'm a start treating them like Nintendo in which I only buy physical games.
I'm also more comfortable than ever at not paying and pirating your stuff as well.
Ubisoft sucks now - they were on top of the world when blag flag and AC3 came out
But do to arrogance in the executive circle and what is best personally best instead of what should be best for the company
they have fallen off the cliff - time to clean house and rebuild
WEF weren't kidding. We're very much on that path now. There's rental and subscription services for pretty much everything.
Not saying this is right or wrong, but are ppl realizing their disc is simply a key to access their game on their SSD?
It's already digital. We no longer play off the discs. And in some cases, there isn't a copy of the game on said disc... again, it's just a key for the digital copy.
This indicates nothing having to do with playing off the disc. This is about whether online connectivity is required to access and/or play the game.
If it was just a key for the digital version you would need internet to play it. You don't because everything is on the disc.
Some gamers like owning things. Even, if installing a disc on the hard drive. Some don't like being connected to the Internet to play. Some don't like paying a subscription to play a game.
Gamers like that, like me, won't be buying into this control and manipulation. Yeah digital is okay and convenient. But there's too many downsides to digital that will create a back lash worse than what Microsoft tried with always online. Won't be every gamer. As there are those that are gullible to this nonsense.
Not playing off discs has nothing to do with it. The key part is that you have the data and a non-expiring license locally. That's why having a feature complete and fully functioning gold master is important. The license on the disc is just there to prevent piracy.
It's not really about physical vs. digital media. The data on the disc is digital to begin with. The issue with centralized digital storefronts generally is that the license you're getting has an expiration date, so you're dependant on them for providing you with a temporary license, even if you have the game installed locally.
Guess they need to get comfortable with me not buying their games or subscriptions.
Plus who do they think they are i can buy most of their back cat for under 50 dollars why would I pay 18 per month
If buying isn't owning, pirating isn't stealing. A wise man once said.😁 I'm proud to say I never have and it looks like
I never will buy from Ubishit.💩
People have already drank the cool-aid- It's good that gaming media has been so quick to help us out...
Because big corp//pharma considers, we the consumer are the 'product' or cattle to be milked of our financial worth.
I'll never be comfortable with not owning my games. If that's where the industry goes then I'll just stop gaming. It's that simple.
I am comfortable never giving Ubisoft a dime! Throw in MS as they want the same exact thing.
Doesn't matter if you own live service games from Ubisoft as they'll shut them down 9 years later anyway without providing an offline mode or community server. eg The Crew 1
I like owning my videogames precisely because I can then play them whenever the fuck I want to.
Ubisoft and Microsoft may as well not exist as far as I'm concerned, their games suck anyway and their arrogance only makes me wanna shun them even more.
Don't we remember, just recently, Ubisoft was closing unused accounts and disabling access to purchased games???
Ubisoft is clearly finding Dorys in gaming.
Oooh Ubisoft plus . We are all just lining up for it
You buy on sale: AC black flag, Rayman, FC3 and South Park and you don't need this 15euro a month subscription.
Isn't this also coming to ps5? Not that it matters really
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!
Looks good but will be something I’d only use if I knew I had some free time coming up, subscribe for a month and blitz a few of their better titles before unsubscribing until new offerings are added.
The fact this costs more than both GamePass & PS Plus Extra is ridiculous considering both the quality and number of titles offered.
