The future according to Epic's Tim Sweeney

Unreal Engine 4 reveal is getting close. Hopefully before the end of the year.  With Unreal Engine 3 keep delivering until today with masterpieces like Gears of War 3 and Batkam Arkham City, it makes you wonder how Unreal Engine 4 is gonna look like. Epic's new engine is in development for 9 years until now and we bet our Benjamins that it's public reveal is gonna be a hell of a ride.

Well right now I'm rocking an Atari hooked up to my HD 1080p TV. Get an HDMI cable and run that to your TV, just try Asteroids and it'll blow you away! Look at the quality of those white lines!!

Lol, in all seriousness though, UE4 is going to be amazing... I just hope they give us a new Unreal Tournament with the reveal!

As long as Unreal Tournament 4 isn't as bad as UT3 i'll be happy. LONG LIVE UT2k4!!!

Snookies124157d ago

I wouldn't call UT3 bad, but it definitely pales in comparison to the legendary UT2k4!

ardivt4157d ago

so true
I hope they just recreate UT2k4 with the new engine and change nothing else. this game came pretty close to perfection!

GamingPerson4157d ago

as long as it's pc exclusive it should be fine. I was until UT3.

FriedGoat4157d ago

As soon as epic turned their back on the PC I lost all respect. Mind you UT never could compete with QUAKE, probably best to switch to console, saves embarrassment. Wish they could make an engine that doesn't take half an hour to load the textures in as well, As much as I love blurry walls and characters, sort that shizz out.

Hmm I must try this Batkam arkham city game...love the professional typo. :)

As long as it's not UT4 on the UE4 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, I'll be good. No more "next-gen" features gimped down for hardware getting close to a decade old.

In computer years the 360 and PS3 are 21 years old, and for consumers that's like a pimp having a 121 year old as a worker. It's just not cool and not healthy.

Consoles have done a mighty fine job pushing their own visuals fidelity & large scale real time physics simulations especially on the playstation 3.

P.S..Also console have done excellent job holding their own in the gaming space against pc gaming especially the playstation 3.

Cheers Gamers & Happy Gaming!

I don't like how the Unreal engine gives characters a funny plastic look...

cannon88004157d ago

hopefully that issue will be fixed with the unreal engine 4

Oldman1004157d ago

Case in point: Spec Ops: The Line

There are the one or two good games that use unreal that look great and the rest...

When I hear a game is running on Unreal 3, it instantly drops my interest a few notches.

Most dev's don't put in enough time and effort or whatever majic it takes to actually get the games looking good.

I hope more can be done with UR4 to make the games stand apart from one another.

aaah 360p we meet again -_-

In all seriousness it would look awesome when used in a game. It'll do wonders for those fancy haircut's JPN devs give characters ;)

Frostbite 2.0 has got some serious competition too!

WeskerChildReborned4157d ago

I just like it for the ammount of detail like the characters hair would actually move and be realistic i mean it doesn't matter that much but to me, the small things matter as well :P

"The only difference between ordinary and extraordinary, is the little extra"- shenanigans' video instructor in the movie Waiting

FrigidDARKNESS4157d ago

After watching that video UE4 destroys and embarrases the Frostbite 2 engine.

How could you know? I mean have you played any games running ur4? What's that? No, that's what I thought.
