Prince of Persia: Two Thrones HD Gigagamers Review

An HD remake is an opportunity to fix the small gripes fans had in classic games. Even the best games have little annoyances or problems, and taking advantage of the chance to fix these is the best move a developer can make.

Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones HD Review | JPS

"Tying up the HD remake of the original trilogy comes Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones. The Prince returns to Babylon accompanied by his love Kaileena although this isn’t apparent to those who didn’t see the alternate ending to Warrior Within. Upon arriving at Babylon’s port the Prince sees that the area is under attack. His ship is attacked leaving him floating on debris while his beloved washes ashore and is immediately taken by the attackers. The Prince has his work cut out from him while he searches for Kaileena and answers as well." - JPS

Considering I'm a late bloomer to the Prince of Persia games during the last generation, I will definitely be picking this title up to complete my collection.

bought all three but haven't played any of them yet :(

Still a good trilogy of games. Wish we had a disc release for the games but the DLs are fine. PoP: Sands of Time didn't age well but this one looks like it did.

MightyMark4275250d ago

Yea, I'm hoping we'll be able to get the blu-ray version but downloadable will be fine I guess...

the original PS2 PoP was supposed to be kinda cartoony and OTT though.

playing it after so long i thought all the gameplay mechanics still played really well and aged fine. not quite a pass had it released this gen but for its age its fantastic.

bare in mind, without the good old POP1 we may never have met Ezio or Altair =O

the disc version was released in europe, looking at it right now

I don't know why the US doesn't get the disc versions

They probably have certain stupid rules.

I know SCEE will not allow any expansion to be on the PSN and disc, its one or the other. Its the reason why we could only get the last Oblivion expasion by buying the GOTY edition

ITS THE BASIS OF THE GAME

its the reason you can rewind time...

New-Breed5250d ago

Actually no it's not. Trial and error happens naturally sometimes, but its when its done on accident its awful. The rewind mechanic isn't there so you can learn each level. It's there for when you make a mistake and want to undo it. No one would base a game around trial and error because that is boring/frustrating.

For example, imagine a platformer where the camera is in front of the character looking behind him and there's a rewind mechanic implemented. Would having to memorize each drop off and jump be fun even with a limited rewind ability? The correct answer is no. So to bring this full circle the point is that trial and error is not the point of the game and that is definitely not the reason for the rewind mechanic. Ubisoft definitely developed their levels much better than just trial and error status.

uh ? quite a few games are actuallly based around that concept .

granted not a lot anymore , but still

admiralvic5250d ago

some games are like that, and I hate them... but thats just me, in the end a review is just an opinion.

Arup025250d ago

One of the bests PoP i've played.
