Seems completely tangible considering the bonkers Wii sales.

I agree although I'd argue that the same folks that bought a Wii aren't going to run out and buy the Wii U. Likewise counter that with a very different economic environment globally and the real question from the same folks that bought a Wii being, "What does it do that my Wii doesn't and why do it need this other than to buy more Mario games?"

1. It can't be priced over $299

2. It needs a great line-up at launch (so far so good)

3. It needs 1st party support throughout the year.

4. It needs the casual.

same thing can be implied to the 3ds, yet it selling like hot cakes.

Yeah I know most have the nintendo is doomed to fail mentality. I actually believe they CAN sell more than this. All depending on their launch lineup and support. From what I've heard this console is going to surprise the hardcore 1st person shooter demographic.

People keep saying Nintendo is in a bad spot, but the 3DS and even the DS are both doing pretty good. The Wii is the king of this generation and the Wii U is going to launch over a year before any competition.

I'd say by the time we see a Xbox 720 or PS4, the Wii U will have sold close to 20 million units.

Nintendo will also drop the price of the Wii to $99, which will make it an impulse buy for sure. I mean there is a huge back catalog of Wii games and I bet people who held off buying one will probably break down and get one.

himdeel4797d ago

I disagreed because $99 isn't cheap enough to be an impulse buy for me. Likewise even while the Wii has a huge back catalog I'd also argue 85% of it is shovelware.

Mikhail4797d ago

Well, they have no "next gen" competitor so that is feasible.
It depends on the price for the majority of people. But the 360 and PS3 are cheap now. The Tablet controller would probably be its selling point.

XBLA Classic 'A World of Keflings' Is Coming to Steam, and There's a Demo

"Back in the innocent days of 2010, A World of Keflings was a fairly popular successor to A Kingdom for Keflings. I even wrote about it a few times in 2012! But the world of humans moved on, and NinjaBee's city-building/adventure game was last seen on the ill-fated Wii U in 2014. Fast-forward to the dark year of 2025, and not only is A World of Keflings coming to Steam, but there's already a playable demo! Perhaps the cheerful, no pressure gameplay that the Keflings bring is just what we need nowadays," says Co-Optimus.
