Square Enix Registers "A Realm Reborn" Domains, Possibly Tied To FFXIV Reboot

On top of filing a trademark for A Realm Reborn, Square Enix registered domains for the slogan, which appear to be tied to Final Fantasy XIV.

Anything tied to any online Final Fantasy game should never be done. There should never have been an online Final Fantasy in the first place. Better yet, if they DID have to have an online one, they could have called it, oh I don't know... "Final Fantasy ONLINE" and not actually number it in the REAL series.

This makes a lot of sense. After all the discussion about what they were doing to rebuild FFXIV, this 'Realm Reborn' sound like a perfect fit. Now I just have to figure out if my PC will run FFXIV or if I have to wait for the PS3 version...

the ps3 version will have a beta beginning right around when 2.0 is released. im pretty sure their plan is to have a ps3 version running the majority of the time after 2.0 is released, whether that version is beta or not is a different story though.

Did you read my whole comment? I said IF they had to do one (which of course they did, FFXI and FFXIV) they SHOULD have named it "Final Fantasy Online". It should never have been a numbered entry in the series is what I'm saying.

I personally think there will be no FFXIV for the PS3.It's been 2 yrs & still it's only on PC,like Square had also said that the Last Remnant was to appear on the PS3 and never did.

FFXIV has been in the process of being completely rebuilt on a new game engine and everything and has better optimization for PCs and PS3 with the open beta for PS3 scheduled to drop in October. They would lose a lot of money not releasing it for PS3 now with all the extra work they're putting into it right now.

SE has been on the ball lately since they fired the old team that screwed this game up. They released a PDF timeline last year and they've been hitting everything on time so far and things are looking great. The game sees pretty dramatical change every few months (for the better) and is getting quite enjoyable to play.

One of my favorite things is how close the developers have been on the community site and we have even seen a few player suggestions appear in the game because of it.

Don't get excited. It's probably just another handheld game. Those are the only games SE seem to really care about to put in any real quality effort into.

Don't know if the article added the proof that this is for FFXIV for sure or not at first but it says so now and it's correct. Everybody following the game or still playing it know these words from the new promotional image about the remake of the game that we've known about since last year now. And things are looking great. People not actively following or playing the game are kind of in the dark right now (until E3 when the new video and promoting starts) but they have been very close with the community talking to us directly so we kind of already know a lot of these things.
