52 Games We'll Still Be Playing From 2007: The Top 12

GT Staff writes, "From the January releases of Lost Planet, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, WoW: The Burning Crusade and Hotel Dusk all the way to the end of the year with it's flurry of fantastic games one after the other, 2007 has been an amazing year for gaming. With the first full year of the seventh-generation of gaming coming to a close, there is a lot to look forward to in 2008."

" The Top 12 marks the end of our selections, but these dozen games won't just be remembered in 2008, there's a good chance these games will be remembered for all time as new classics of gaming."

Check out page 2; it made one of the top 6, in fact. Awesome game: SwiderMan is my name on there.

For years to come, thanks to mods. :D

RIPHDDVD6341d ago

i play that game nonstop man lol.

Warfare mode FTW!

wageslave6340d ago

Hm, are you sure the mods are coming? They promised mods but didnt deliver did they.

Wait until the Xbox 360 version, Microsoft will help them figure out how to do mods -- and it will be available by the time the Xbox 360 version ships.

Once again, Sony overpromises and underdelivers. Why arent the sony fans up in arms because UT3 didnt ship with mod-capability as promised? Where are all the "oh, we get user generated content" screamers now?

Hey?

... Uncharted isn't in top 12!? it's one of the best games of the year, and the best on ps3!!! This lists are stupid, they are to subjective! Everyone of us has it's own top 12 list!
I simply can't see why is this so important to be a part of news!

SwiderMan6341d ago

Uncharted is a great game and part of the 52 games, but it isn't the top PS3-exclusive "We'd be playing in 2008" (noticed 52 games=52 weeks) because Warhawk has more longevity.

What were you saying about how great Uncharted is....? Uhmm...?

rexor07176341d ago

I will definitely be playing COD 4 and Warhawk for a looong time. Uncharted is the best on the PS3 but I doubt Im going to revisit it for a while, its multiplayer that brings me back. If uncharted had a co-op and online, I would be spending my time there.

mikeslemonade6341d ago (Edited 6341d ago )

Not even close there won't 52 games from 2007 that will be played by the hardcore gamers. For 360 it's going to be Halo 3 and depends how early you got into Mass Effect, PS3 is Unreal 3, and Wii is Mario Galaxy. Then there's Guitar Hero 3 and Rock Band. Most of us hardcore gamers will be moving on to DMC4 and Burnout Paradise. The Wii Owners have to play Mario Galaxy until Super Smash.

sticky doja6341d ago

TRUE hardcore gamers stick to games with great multi-player. They play games like DMC4 but there is not a lot of reason to go back if you can't get online and play against the best of the best.

mikeslemonade6341d ago

Once you beat the single player and get past level 55 on COD4 there's really no incentive to keep continuing. The golden guns in prestige mode is not enough. Now Halo 3 has map editor, forge, and then you can customize more than COD4. Unreal 3 has mods enough said. COD4 was the best game I played for a month but after that there's nothing very compelling to keep playing where as Unreal 3 I see myself playing until the next one comes out, or when the graphics start to look bad compared to other games.

when i reached lvl 40 there was no point in playing cod4 i enjoyed workn to unlock the best weapon the p40 (my personal best) after i unlocked it games became way to easy with its hi acracy realy fast fire rate and a longish range so when i got to lvl 45 thats it i stoped playing all they games r not as enjoyful as they where whenu have nothin to work for

Doom: The Dark Ages Launches to a Peak of 30k Concurrent Users

Doom: The Dark Ages has hit a peak of just under 31,000 concurrent players at launch, a figure much lower than both Doom and Doom: Eternal.

I guess that means the game is trash?

PRIMORDUS4h ago

No it's good but for $70 and Denuvo DRM on PC hard pass.

pwnmaster30002h ago

Don’t matter, if it’s not hitting 100k+ it’s considered trash and a failure.
That’s the new standard apparently

This game just didn't excite me like the last 2. I'm passing on it this time.

JEECE2h ago

Spin off vibe without the spin off price.

LucasRuinedChildhood4h ago

Could be affected by:
- A percentage of people will play this on GamePass which the last 2 games did not launch on.
- A percentage of players bought the Deluxe Edition which included early access, reducing the peak as players will start playing it on different days.

PRIMORDUS4h ago

Price most likely the issue, and while most don't know or care about Denuvo on PC, if you lower the price I'm sure it will sell more on all platforms.

VersusDMC2h ago

Well Clair obscure had the same situation(gamepass) and had a concurrent high of 150k and currently at 50k.

LucasRuinedChildhood3m ago

Sure, but those numbers are higher than previous Doom games' peak on Steam as well.
- Doom 2016 (44,269)
- Doom: Eternal (104,891)

Seems like if you accounted for what I mentioned, the peak would at least be higher than Doom 2016.

And I didn't just mention GamePass. I think it's silly but a lot of people pay for the early access.

Excellent!

Around a 600 24hr peak on Steam at below 80% approval...I'm sure not too many people are worried about this.
