Multi-Player Gaming In The 90s
In 1991, Street Fighter II was released and its popularity in North America soared. It exceeded $1.5 billion in revenue and the arcade version was ported onto 5 major console platforms at the time and is still being ported. Much like the original Street Fighter, Street Fighter II was very multiplayer focused with a single player campaign seemingly only used to practice. Street Fighter II added many options for players such as more characters and moves, along with better graphics and functionality.
