... like the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty franchise.

Yi-Long said "If that is our destiny, you cannot change it. But do not go in fear, Grasshopper. Fear is eternal darkness. Go instead with inner strength. For it is like a deep river, into which all streams flow. It increases, always moving forward. And soon, there is nothing that can stand in its way"

hazelamy4839d ago

i was gonna say i can't imagine why, but i think you nailed it Yi-Long

Angrymorgan4839d ago

I thought they just changed the name to sleeping dogs

GraveLord4839d ago

Nope. It's because its a game that won't sell.
It won't sell anywhere close to Grand Theft Auto or even Saints Row.

Stay mad.

Its not cod, and didnt have any auto aim.

Rolento4839d ago

I don't understand why Square-Enix didn't scrap FF13 & FF13-2 considering how they're the worst games in existence. S-E must've picked this up cause they're used to releasing garbage now.

Baka-akaB4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

it's 3 months old now , get over it . And it was more than ok for quite enough people .

I even only need one title to make your trolling seems foolish : Deus ex Human revolution . You're going to claim it's garbage they picked up too ?

DragonKnight4839d ago

SE published that game, they didn't have a hand in developing it. SE, as publishers, seem to still have an eye for good projects and developers. As a development studio, they're only good at handhelds. At least for this gen.

Baka-akaB4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

Never said otherwise . And not the point , he explicitely state they release garbages . So i dont get the whole rescue of a troll . It's kinda the same here with sleeping dogs .

As for the rest let's just agree to disagree and have different opinions .

They are awesome so far on handhelds , and still good enough in my eyes on home consoles . At the very least they started redeeming themselves for me and some others with FFXIII-2 .

BDSE4839d ago

That was developed by the Eidos part of the company, the Square Enix part hasn't produced anything of any worth since FFX.

Baka-akaB4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

We are you repeating stuff i obviously know ? And no they produced XII wich i loved thank you . And XIII was still ok , and XIII-2 some major improvement . But stay on the bandwagon

BDSE4839d ago

@Baka-akaB

Its not obvious that you know it and perhaps you should calm down a bit? I mean if you make a comment expect people to respond to it.

Also FFXIII wasn't ok, it was utter dross that involved one long walk and that played itself.

Baka-akaB4839d ago (Edited 4839d ago )

Er it kinda is . The post just above yours precisely restate SE is only the publisher ... so i found it funny to have somoen coming late to re-repeat that

As for XIII i'll keep repeating i find it good and you'll keep repeating the game is crap ? Let's just agree to disagree :p

@Rolento

Why should they have scrapped FF13&13-2?those games brought in profit for the company even though gamers on forums dislike them. What world do you live in that companies scrap software/items that produce profit?

Outside_ofthe_Box4839d ago

He was obviously referring to the quality of the games.

labaronx4839d ago

it looked great at the time, and it's looking even more promising now, hope activision doesn't pull any legal trickery and have it delayed or anything

specialguest4839d ago

I just watched the video of the developer talking about the game and it's perking my interest. It sounds like they put a lot of research into making this game to try to give it an authentic experience.

iamironman4839d ago

it looks interesting but i'm not convinced yet. i didn't know it wasn't originally a true crime game though which makes me more interested in it.

Shang-Chi Star Simu Liu Wants to Develop Sleeping Dogs Sequel and Movie

Shang-Chi star Simu Liu is working to revive the Sleeping Dogs movie and hopes its success could lead to a long-awaited Sleeping Dogs sequel.

ZeekQuattro138d ago

Please do. One of my favorite games from that gen. A man who never eats pork bun is never a whole man!

Inverno138d ago

Square has their own GTA and they haven't bothered making a sequel. Yet they're wasting money on nfts and live service crap.

Inverno138d ago

Gotta be more specific. Did it sell well to Square and their unrealistic expectations? Probably not. Did it sell well and garnered enough praise to deserve a sequel? Yes. They also bought the rights from Acti when it was True Crime so they must've thought it was worth it at the time so idk why they've let the IP die out.

ZeekQuattro138d ago

According to Square Sleeping Dogs, Hitman Absolution and even Tomb Raider Reboot bombed on varying levels. They all dropped around the same time. All sold well enough but Square and it's lofty expectations got in the way. I remember Square was mumbling that TR sold 3 million + in a month.

CrimsonWing69138d ago

I’d be down if he doesn’t shove his ideals in it.

AndrewM138d ago

As long as the game fits YOUR ideals eh? Whatever happened to artists creating what artists want...

CrimsonWing69138d ago

Hey, they can create whatever they want. I literally said “I’d” be down if he doesn’t shove his ideals in it.

Whatever happened to consumers being allowed to voice what they want in a discussion forum, eh…?

JunonZanon138d ago

What a game Sleeping Dogs is.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil429d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai429d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

CrimsonWing69428d ago

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle428d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal428d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa428d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal428d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

*As per Wikipedia

boing1428d ago (Edited 428d ago )

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.
