Fan-made Wing Commander Game Allowed To Continue

In a move that suprises some ( including me ) EA has decided not to go to the courtroom over Wing Commander Saga: Darkest Dawn a fan-made sequel to the series by a fan called GnomesLair. EA is however not officially or unofficially endorsing the game.

I think that EA allowing fans to play with dormant franchises is a wonderful idea, and I hope that this becomes a common practice. Imagine if EA allowed fans to make new versions of old Bullfrog games such as Dungeon Keeper or Populous. Maybe if there is indie success EA will pursue these old franchises proactively, and not allow them to gather dust.
