Good list. My personal favorite button on Nintendo hardware is the "B" trigger on the Wiimote. :)

Big green A button, rubbery shoulder buttons, the GC controller was begging to be touched

I simply love the controls in 99.9% of Nintendo flagship software.

Great list, of a non common theme. Personally, I love the Z button from the N64, and god, the eject button from the SNES. Always wondered why the N64 didnt have one. And you remembered me the pain on the palm of my hand I had while playing the first Mario Party.

Awesome.

About the A button from the GC... I know a lot of people who always press "b" instead of "a". It looks like red things got more attention than big green ones.

We Let Online Gaming Kill Couch Co-Op. Bring Back Split-Screen Games

It’s time game developers stop ignoring one of the most beloved features in gaming history: split-screen couch co-op. I miss it!

It's a shame to me that so few indie devs seem interested in catering to this era (split screen era) of nostalgic gaming. Many of them are interested in retro gaming, obviously, but almost all of them seem to drift either to platformers or Metroidvanias (no issue with either, there have just been so many). I'd love to see an indie dev really try to capture that late N64/PS1 through early Xbox/PS2/GameCube era of split screen gaming.

Gamecube Games Feel Great On The Switch 2, But Locking Them Out Of The Original Switch Is Dirty Work

Yeah I doubt there's a technical reasons why it's locked out of the origin switch I had GameCube emulation running fine on the Wii U

livedeht4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

Wii u had hardware support for gamecube/wii same chipset. But cube was emulated on a tegra chipset (same as switch but wasnt downclocked as switch is) on some obscure asian console.

Profchaos4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

You have a point there's a architecture difference at play here

Quick google shows that homebrew community have not made it without a modification to clock speeds etc on the current switch might be wrong but it was a 5 minute google.

So I stand corrected good to know

The Switch is an extremely capable console when it comes to playing GameCube games. The reality is that it's a paywall to push their newer hardware, which is lame.

Which is why you can just torrent ROM collections and have a nice emulation machine, no need for a Switch or to pay Nintendo.

If you support Nintendo’s behavior, this is what you’ll get. They’ve been problematic for a long time, but damn if they don’t make some great games. It’s hard as hell not to give in. I’m definitely gonna hold out this time. Sucks though, because I want to play that GameCube Fire Emblem game.

A Spokesperson for Nintendo was quoted as saying “Shut Up, and Buy!”.

PRIMORDUS4d ago

I would love to meet that person and say, no I'll just torrent and take, now what lol.
