Mad Catz Official Wireless Force Feedback Racing Wheel Review - Gaming Nexus

From the review: "I’ve often been frustrated with racing games on the Xbox 360. The console itself is not the problem; it has the processing and graphics power to provide a platform for the same simulation grade racing titles found on the much more expensive PC platform, without all of the commensurate hassles of keeping a PC clean and virus-free. The problem for me has always been the dearth of good steering wheels for the Xbox. Without a good steering wheel, I believed, even the best implemented racing game was going to be at a severe disadvantage when compared to a PC equivalent due to the need to use the standard Xbox controller and its thumb sticks. Without a basis of comparison, though, it was a tough theory to prove, although repeated racing incidents with ham-handed drivers using Xbox controllers on the PC for use in iRacing did nothing to dissuade my belief that the Xbox controller and meaningful simulated racing were a match made in hell."

I feel bad for those who drive right hand side.
No wonder wheels like the G25 & G27 are so wanted.

This wheel deserve no more than a 2/5. For the same price you can get the offical forza wheel, the Fantec CSR,with 900 degrees rotation, on wheel adjustment setting, quality pedals with a clutch, and full xbox 360/ps3/pc compatibility. Its downright criminal that they are selling this Madcatz plastic junker for $250.

Quote from the article: "Hands down the best racing wheel to date! Get this one now while you can, as you will not be sorry!" I think the writer of this review never heard of the logitech and fanatec wheels !!

Actually I have.. and they do not feel as good to me. It is a personal preference after all.

Glossy Eyed reviews the Mad Catz Force Feedback Racing Wheel for Xbox 360

Glossy Eyed broke open the box and saw this glorious new toy so they quickly slapped it together and plugged it into the outlet while the kiddies weren’t around to take out to the open road. Glossy Eyed thinks it’s important to this review to include being a gaming dad, as they feel there are many of us out there that wish we had the opportunity or option to play with more peripherals then we do but find it hard to do so with a family and children. The first thing they noticed about the Mad Catz’s Racing Wheel was that it was a quality product. It all looked and felt very solid, nothing tacky like some lower price peripherals. With a hefty price tag of $249.99 this is what you should expect when you open up the box of a high end piece of merchandise.

After reading your review I cant help but come away thinking the score should be even lower since you were turned off by the price. The thing is though you appeared to be turned off by the $249 number as a whole and not comparing it directly to other wheels at a similar price point. Instead you opted for it being out of the reach to the average gaming consumer.

Yes there are cheaper wheels on the market that fair exceptionally well against this EXTREMELY (I will get to my reasoning in a moment as to why I capped extremely) over priced peripheral from Madcatz. The thing is there is a wheel on the market that makes this Madcatz offering into the shiny plastic POS it actually is in comparison. It's made by Fanatec and it's called the CSR wheel.

The Fanatec CSR wheel comes in at the same price point ($249) and is not in another league compared to this Madcatz wheel. It's in another galaxy. I have owned or gamed on nearly 2 dozen wheels over the years. The old MS wheel ,which this Madcatz wheel was replicated after, being one of them. That MS was complete trash compared to offers from Thrustmaster, Logitech, MOMO and Fanatec. This Madcatz wheel, according to most sim fans I know that have tried both (old MS wheel and this Madcatz wheel), are nearly identical in performance.

This wheel should have a retail value of no more than $129 and even at that price I would opt for the more expensive Fanatec CSR (Forza or GT2 wheel. Being that they are in the same price point now. This Madcatz wheel should rate about a 5 tops.

Also the Fanatec wheels I mentioned not only work with the XBox 360, but the PS3 and PC as well. Which makes it that much more a value over this wheel from Madcatz. IMHO Madcatz is BSC trying to get this much bank for this POS. They could not pay me enough to give them more than a 5 for this wheel consider the competition and price point they are asking for this plastic imitation.

In case anyone is wondering what BSC stands for it's
