Nexuiz (pronounced Nexus) is the remake of a popular FPS game and has now been released as a downloadable title running on Cryengine 3. The new version is developed by Illfonic and published by THQ and is available on XBLA, PSN and eventually Steam. It is an arena based first person shooter with heavy influences from Quake.
Nexuiz launched as a PC and console game 10 years ago, but the downfall of THQ lead to problems for the inspirational title.
Remember Nexuiz, the arena first-person shooter pulled from Steam three years ago after publisher THQ went bust? It's back.
Developer IllFonic has self-published the game on Steam, where it costs £7.99 (it's £3.99 until 22nd March).
Didn't get around to playing it until after the community died. Great to see it back.
The aftershock of THQ's dissolution continues, as servers for the Xbox 360 version of Nexuiz have been shut down. Developer Illfonic announced the news on its Facebook page, noting that the servers were being run by THQ and "cannot be maintained anymore." The PC servers, however, will remain online courtesy of Illfonic itself.
That's a shame, I loved this game but guess I won't be able to complete the achievements now.
Here's a quick review. Basura!
