VideoGamer.com - Rockstar casts aside our Max Payne 3 fears

VideoGamer.com's Neon Kelly writes: "As far as the fans go, there seem to be two set of concerns with Max Payne 3. The first group of worries tends to clump around the changes to which I've already alluded – the shift to São Paulo and Max's new appearance. As I've said before, I think most of these anxieties will melt away as Rockstar shows its hand: the game's timeline leaps back and forth between Brazil and Max's former, more familiar life in New York, but beyond this, even the South American scenarios feel like they're carrying the essential Max Payne DNA."

So basicaly because it's Rockstar...everything is going to be alright.....why is it people keep thinking this, fair enough if this was Rockstars franchise but it's not, this is new territory for them, they never created Max Payne characters, designed the gritty, dark noire settings or the amazing script so to keep thinking "Oh it's Rockstar no need to worry" is just being in denial that Rockstar is driving Max Payne away from what made it so great.

Look I love Rockstar, I really do...wasn't too happy with GTA4 8 months later when I shook off the hype but thats the problem with Rockstar games...hype. Even if there are things wrong with Max Payne 3 like how it dosen't feel like one people won't admit it untill nearly a year later. Same thing happened with GTA4.

If Rockstar really did cast way our fears then the first trailer...the VERY FIRST trailer of this game would of been edited in such a way where it would in fact cast away peoples fears....but it didn't, it made them worse. They had another chance with the second trailer but again they failed. They succeeded in telling me it was going to be an amazing game in general but as a Max Payne game....well I don't even know why it's called that still. It's like Die Hard the video game and everytime I see Bald Max is his bright colourful clothing I'm like "Who the hell is this guy", McCaffrey's voice or not.

""I had a hole in my second-favourite drinking arm, and the only way we were likely to get Fabiana back was in instalments"."

How can you praise that for example, it dosen't even top most of the great lines from Max in the previous Max Payne games.

"As I've said before, I think most of these anxieties will melt away as Rockstar shows its hand: the game's timeline leaps back and forth between Brazil and Max's former, more familiar life in New York, but beyond this, even the South American scenarios feel like they're carrying the essential Max Payne DNA"

Thats the problem though with switching back and forth, the fans with fears are going to love the flashbacks but then not accept the horriable changed levels set in the present. I mean you giving people a taste of what the game could of been like if it had stayed in New York and kept Max looking like himself.

As I said I hope people won't fall into the hype when it comes our and say it's a true MP game because of that. If it dosen't feel like one it's better to voice your opinion out to Rockstar so they don't change it more in MP4. You have to admit Rockstar have become a little bit arrogant now, probably the reason why the never bothered trying to cast peoples fears away in the trailers...."Ahhh who gives a crap about them....where Rockstar.....we can do whatever we want"

I got 80% trophy completion on Ragnarok but left a few of the battles. Will come back to it one day.

Dragon Quest 11 is my top pick

Dragon Quest XI was such an AMAZING game, I had a blast from the very beginning all the way to the very end, it actually got better the more you played, full of surprises as well.

Another game that I enjoyed from the very beginning all the way to the end of the 100% completion was Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Really, really, really fun game with a great heartfelt story.

Where is Horizon Zero Dawn?? where is Ghost of Tsushima?? I just got my Platinum on HZD and is now trying to finish the Frozen Wild expansion. so much care and love went into that game and it really shows. I especially adore the lore and have sunk many hours listening to the logs and reading journals. the back story is great and the gameplay is awesome. can't wait to replay on the hardest difficulty on NG+. next in my list would be to finish GoTsushima

Ghost was fantastic especially after Iki Island and the PS5 upgrade. 100%'d that, Horizon Forbidden West (not ZD), GoW (not yet Ragnarok), Spider-Man, and R&C: Rift Apart.

Each one absolutely worth it.

100% I would like to add to you list RDR2, amazing as well and the perks from getting the Legend Of The East outfit is awesome.
Sekiro as well, have to play twice to get it but it's worth it!

Demetrius721d ago

I agree I'm on my 2nd playthroughs of both horizon forbidden West(zero dawn I played also) ghost of Tsushima except I'm replaying it on PS5 this time, the iki island expansion is amazing

ClayRules2012721d ago

Yeah, GoT was already an AMAZING game on PS4, but playing it on PS5, along with that expansion, just even better.
