Another patent registered by Nintendo. The possibilities are both scary and interesting at the same time.
Judging from the picture. Nintendo is preparing to further innovate the gaming industry. The 1st thing that came to mind was Wii U music.
Don't see how you can be playing a virtual keyboard while moving that tablet controller around. It doesn't make sense.
Nintendo will make it make sense. As they always do.
that looks pretty cool as long as it is utlised within hardcore games and not casual too much :D Nintendo have been innovating the most recently. Always trying new things and Sony and MS following suite. While MS are leaders for online though and Nintendo are worst in online functions.
Those mech warrior games(don't know what the proper genre is called) came to mind... You can move and shoot with the analog sticks and triggers, but then you can have an enourmous amount of extra buttons right in front of you in a virtual dashboard. Maybe if you were playing something like a battlefield game or a simulator, you could look around your vehicle and interact with things inside while at the same time looking forward. If you've ever play Red Orchestra 2, I'm talking about something with the tank. You could also use it to control something like a backpack/spell min-screen in RPGs. Rotate the controller a certain way and it'll pop up a screen on the controller where you can scroll left/right to see things like backpack contents, spells, experience, etc. All while still having your main screen in view to watch out for baddies. Many, many possibilities...
No way am I interested in another Wii Music game but I gotta admit, that concept is pretty badass lol.
Wii U Music is definately not for people like us I assume. This is just Nintendo following the tradition of catering to everyone that supports Nintendo platforms. Why are your bubbles so low for a man that spreads truth? +bubbles
@LX I think we both know the answer to that lol. But I'm not going to say anything cause I don't wanna offend a particular group of people.....lol.
Not to get off topic, but I have tons of WELL SAID, FUNNY, ect and I am still at 3 bubbles. I don't know why some guys have 5 and some have 3 or really how it works. I would love to get up to 5 or 6 bubbles. Back on Topic. I am really confused at the direction Nintendo is going but I await patiently. They really go out of there way to plow us away. And I really want that Wii U Zelda.
Go read some posts from very insightful posters like Alpha. He is an example of how you get bubbles by saying great things.
It was a fun one, nonetheless. They'll do the sequel better this time, I'm sure of it.
@Shok Dude, you totally spoke my mind.
That could work really well if you didn't have to move it, but looking at the illustration that won't be the case. But if Nintendo has patented it they must have made it work somehow. I just don't see how.
Some patents are speculative. They are intended to secure ownership of a hypothetical concept, and ultimately may never show up in an actual game. Last we heard the controllers touch screen didn't support multitouch, so I wonder how they can emulate a keyboard, which would usually involve using at least two fingers simultaneously.
It could work, but only if it's not a one sided thing (i.e. only for casual gamers).
Looks to me it's just a way of presenting on how the gyroscopes can proxy placement. A new Mario Paint would be awesome though.
Just because they patented something, doesn't mean they'll do anything with it. Remember the Wii teddy bear? Me neither. Yet they patented that idea too, along with a Wii Skateboard and a Wii crash helmet. Look if you don't believe me! http://www.reghardware.com/...
I think what everybody failed to notice from this patent is that if it gets implemented on the WiiU is that the screen in the controller is in fact multitouch because you would need that to play the notes from a piano.
Its always good to see Nintendo is always looking outside the box. They constantly try to innovate the gaming sector. Its a shame they don't get more support from 3rd parties. Nintendo really lays out all the groundwork on how to have a innovative experience with gaming. They always try to blaze their own path while staying true to their fans. I appreciate the work they do in trying to keep me entertained in new ways. They constantly change the way games are played for everyone, from joysticks to rumble to motion controls etc. As long as they keep patenting things, I know they are not giving up on trying to make us continue to have fun, as well as trying to stop their competitors from stealing more ideas lol.
Someone that finally understands true greatness when they see it. +bubbles for being a well spoken respectful gamer that knows the truth.
Thanks LX....yea I had bubbles removed in a Sony room and everyone went crazy on one of my post on the Vita and took all my bubbles lol so its appreciated !!
Now think THAT is a really cool concept. I am now currently fantasizing about sticking a neck on the side of it and playing it like a guitar...
