A little turtle told us the release details of Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory which won the hearts of the judges at IGF China 2010. Here’s a hint: it’s coming sooner than you think!
"It’s cute, it’s fun, and it’s original. What more could you ask for from a simple indie game? Now you may be saying to yourself ‘well, there are also nice visuals, audio and gameplay.’ If so, don’t worry; it has all of that too! Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory is a great little 2D platformer that’s sure to make you smile. It may even stop you from having sugar in your tea."
The retro 2D platformers just keep coming, and they don’t come much more indie than Sugar Cube: Bittersweet Factory. This new indie champ didn’t come from the bedroom of some reclusive coder in London though, its the winner of the Chinese IGF competition.
Korean game policy insists that every game must be met with strict measures to ensure that the country’s youth are protected from any harm that games could cause. Turtle Cream, Korean natives themselves, have decided to protest these policies by refusing to release their game in the territories where these policies are active.
