Twisted Metal Review [It's A Gaming World]

Twisted Metal has finally made its debut on the PlayStation 3 in all its glory and splendor. Filled with more murder, blood, cussing and fiery-head clowns than you can shake a flaming missile at; and it is pure brilliant.

I disagree.

Mediocre review, good score.

TheFallenAngel4836d ago

Well deserved score. I have played online and single player. Both are pretty good especially the story of Sweet Tooth.

NeoTribe4836d ago

Perfect score is to high for it. It has to many flaws for that. 8.5 is about right.

SoapShoes4836d ago

So did Skyrim and infact that game had more flaws than this but it didn't stop it from being a good game or getting perfect scores.

Fact is 10/10 doesn't mean perfect anymore it just means it's a very great game.

NeoTribe4836d ago

i didnt say it was perfect. said it got perfect score. Regardless im being honest, i bought it and i love it. Its def not a 5/5 or a 10/10. Special abilities are uninspired and the story mode is lacking telling the many other drivers tales. The tales of the 3 it does tell are fantastic though.

SoapShoes4835d ago

Well it definitely gets a 10/10 in fun, imo. I'm just saying many other bug ridden, flawed games get perfect scores all the time because they're just plain fun.

IGW_Fobia4833d ago

When I played the game I ran into no issues. Well, besides being horrible at the game for quite awhile, but you can't hold that against the game.

DanJenkoFMV4836d ago

I don't know what you're review policy is, but full marks seems ridiculous to me. It's a very good game, sure, but 5/5 suggests it's perfect, which it just isn't.

IGW_Fobia4833d ago

My "review policy" is actually rather simple. Is it fun to play. Does the game make you want to pick it back up after finish a play session.

We play games for fun; no other reason. So when a game does that, and does it extremely well (like Twisted Metal) it deserves a good score. Then when there are no issues with the game, the game deserves and even higher score.

But above all else, the game has to be a blast to play...so 5/5 it deserved.

Marquis_de_Sade4836d ago

Poor review, I know that no review is completely objective, but at least make an effort to be so.

Marquis_de_Sade4836d ago

Okay, let me rephrase that for those of you who are a tad too sensitive.

GREAT SCORE! but "Poor review, I know that no review is completely objective, but at least make an effort to be so"

There you go.

r214836d ago

hey man its just afew disagrees, no need to go all nutty bout it. keep calm and stay cool.

IGW_Fobia4833d ago

You are right/wrong. No review can be objective...period. A review is based off the reviewer's opinion of the game they just played.

To be onjective you need to use facts/stats/whatever else that is factual/proovable data....which is not available at the launch of a game, so everything wrote is always going to be opinion/subjective.

TM3 is my favorite but I'll take what they bring out gladly. Fun times back in the day and great soundtracks

Cacabunga228d ago

Last one on ps4 wasn’t good at all.
Hoping for some good reboot or remake of the first 3

Dagexon228d ago

You mean the one on ps3?

Cacabunga227d ago

Yes i do, thanks! I realized too late couldn’t edit

Lego 2K Drive features an exciting mode called Brick Brawl, inspired by Twisted Metal. Players can create, share, and upload various cars, including ones like Sweet Tooth. The game boasts thousands of custom cars, ranging from the Batmobile to the Sweet Tooth ice cream truck.

InUrFoxHole228d ago

Never understood the like for the series. Not my bag but I know a lot of gamers are clamoring for a new game and liked the TV. Series

TiredGamer228d ago (Edited 228d ago )

TM1 and 2 are time period classics. They were a bit rough, ugly, and grungy, but they felt right during the time period they were released and they scratched that early console “death match” itch before FPS games would completely swallow that market.

Many great memories with friends playing couch co-op and 1v1. Short, and quick-and-dirty gameplay that we returned to over and over. I’d buy a remake or proper remastering of the first two games day one.

InUrFoxHole228d ago

Lol, nice! I remember having the tiger handheld or watch..

FinalFantasyFanatic227d ago

I played those so much as I kid, I bought the Twisted Metal games that were on PSN as Playstation Classics, wow, they feel clunky by today's standards, they could really use the remake/remaster treatment.

UltimateOwnage228d ago

Twisted Metal: Black is when the series really hit for me. I still love that game so much. It was kind of downhill for the series after that IMO. I'd love to see the series go back to its roots, but I don't hold out a lot of hope for David Jaffe coming back from where he is these days to oversee development of a competent sequel.

Snookies12228d ago

Black was the pinnacle in my opinion. I adored TM1 and TM2, for sure. But Black brought it to a whole new level of awesome.

All I ask for is a new Twisted Metal that allows flat screen & PSVR2 cross play that also supports a wheel.
Would be heaven.

Babadook7664d ago

Wow. I like the idea of VR twisted metal with a wheel.

Rebel_Scum664d ago

They need to get the enemy AI balance right. Thats what made 2 the best in the series. Black was abysmal in that dept.

neomahi664d ago

You don't. Do sequels. If you've gotta reboot, might as well do a new IP. God of War is the only game I can say that did a successful reboot

TiredGamer664d ago (Edited 664d ago )

Isn’t the new GoW just a sequel technically?

I personally think they can leverage the roots of the series. The original TM in 1995 took place on Christmas Eve 2005, and it was the 10th contest in history. Why not “reboot” the franchise by making a prequel of sorts showing the origin story of the series and maybe linking all the future games in a brilliant way. Seems like such an obvious idea to leverage old with the new (kind of look how Doom 2016 did with its lore).

Knightofelemia663d ago

Just make it a good game Twisted Metal has it's fan base.
