It seems everyone lately is poking fun at Sony. Everything from their Vita launch problems and price, to the woes of the current state of the PS3. A lot has happened in the past few years. The manufacturing giant continues to struggle among its competitors in multiple forms of entertainment, not just the Playstation brand of products. Then there’s the news of a corporate shakeup which sees Howard Stringer stepping down, allowing for the Kazuo Hirai as the new CEO and president of Sony Corporation. Pertaining to the Playstation brand and the PS3, we take a look at some of the decisions and events that have contributed to the current state of Sony.
With its existence looking more and more likely, there are several points the Final Fantasy 9 remake should hit to ensure it was worth the wait.
Make it an actual remake of the game and not a reboot of the first hours of the game just to release the next hours some years later and nothing of it feels like FF9 actually aside from the same characters and locations used.
I just hope they don't divide into trilogy please...Full game from start to finish? Maybe in 2 parts maximum?
I thought FF8 was the superior game to get a remake treatment ? whoever that shareholder that forced SE to make FF9 Remake he must've spent a lot of budget backing this to happen , pretty strange shift from 7 to 9 but hey .. FF8 was a much deserving to be remade since the story needs expansion between Squall and Laguna and it left on a cliffhanger note
Avinash from Tech4Gamers writes "If Sony ever decides to re-enter the handheld market, it should stick with the original PSP design for the best results."
"The PSP’s simple yet intricate layout gave it a timeless structure, offering a unique but comfortable experience."
Yeah, no. There have been huge improvements in the ergonomics of handhelds in the past couple of years. The PSP, especially if we consider the 2000, 3000, and Street PSP models, had a flat back. Saying that this console was comfortable is definitely looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses.
"The analog stick aligns perfectly with the thumb."
It doesn't even have an analog stick; it has a slider.
This is a nostalgia-filled fluff piece that says nothing. If Sony wants to release a new device, they can't make the same mistakes they did with the PSP and the PS Vita. They have to look at what works now in the segment, consider what is available to people, and create something based on that.
Leave the original PSP design for a PSP Mini or something like that.
I always liked the vita's design. Just make the analogs clickable, add the triggers, get rid of the back touch, and you're good. The psp is great as well.
There are PC/Android handhelds that have mimicked the psp and vita designs.
Sucker Punch rejuvenated the superhero genre with Infamous, a series that focused on the pure fun of wielding destructive powers.
Atleast release a remaster trilogy or something to gage interest. I'd buy it. With that said I'm pretty over superheroes at this point. Infamous is still dope as fk though so it'd be a buy
I agree but games take 4-6 years to make so who knows when they would do it? After Ghost of Tsushima2? They could have something else in the world as well in early production who knows.
It's a shame Sucker Punch finally figured out a good open world formula only while making Ghost of Tsushima. Infamous 1 and 2 were great for their time, but Second son felt too much like a checklist in It's design. I love the hell out of all 3 games (2 and 3 are just so damn good, while 1 shows it's age and the ps3 struggles), but I would love to see how they would do another infamous with all they have learned. Wouldn't hurt to release a remastered collection either.
This series, days gone, will continue to get ignored by sony, luckily we still have the horizon series, sly cooper not getting pushed anymore, speaking of that I'm bout to get on my ps2 and play some sly 2 anyways lol, but seriously I never woulda thought back then sony would ever cold shoulder most of their franchises I'm actually surprised they're still letting ratchet&clank be around
Seriously, another one of these articles?
I cannot see one mistake sony did. I bought the ps3 for $600.00 brand new (loved it) i loved the launch titles (heavenly sword) i love the exclusives, the web browser was awesome at the time (and still pretty cool) the online is great, i honestly think half of the sony hate is made up from people looking for hits from articles, because everyone i know loves there ps3. (REAL WORLD)
Jealous Fanboys.
form a marketing and advertising pov I used to see the ps brand in everything sony pictures/tv produced. Seemed only logical as it would be free advertising of one sony brand within another.
Now MS studied what worked for sony and followed suit. I have been seeing more and more 360 related product placement in everything else which stands to reason that sony only has so many studios and the others are fair game. It could very well be appeal as the article states.
nintendo came on in such a rather unforseen way with gaining support from everyone 9-90 that the hardcore appeal of the ps brand was really for the.....hardcore. The vita is not for the casual or the parent buying a system for their kids like what nintendo offers.
The question of tablet/mobile gaming on the rise via ios or wp7 or android will usually get laughed at by the core gamer but it still represent a portion of gaming and it will only get bigger.
sony has some good ideas and has had many before that either were ahead of their time or they gave to much credit to the consumer and didnt do enough to promote. In any case sony will figure things out.
Oh boy oh boy these types of articles need to be removed off this website.
