In 1999, Sir-Tech, known for developing the 1980’s Wizardry series, developed Jagged Alliance 2, five years after Jagged Alliance 1. The result was undoubtedly their best (and unfortunately final) project. The shift from JA1’s limited top-down perspective to JA2’s isometric view alone added enough depth to make the 1993 strategic hit X-COM: UFO Defense proud. A breakthrough in combining tactical game-play with western role-playing elements, JA2 holds up as, arguably, the pinnacle of turn-based strategy and truly passes the test of time as a game that anyone can pick up and still enjoy today.
