It’s rare to find word games on Xbox Live Arcade; the user interface isn’t ideal without a keyboard to input letters and, more importantly, it’s harder to download one that’s fun to play. In a world where the average console gamer would rather shoot a gun than spell word, Denki and UTV Ignition have ported their successful iOS game, Quarrel, which combines a spelling game like Words With Friends with the strategy of RISK and tosses in a fast-paced playstyle to make it original. Multiple game modes (including online multiplayer), a cute art direction, and a false sense of simplicity are blended together and presented to players at a very reasonable price, making Quarrel a surprising value filled with competition and fun.
