East of Nowhere takes a retrospective look at Dark Souls after all the releases this year to give it a more thoughtful review.

Best way I've ever seen someone sum up Dark Souls. Great job. especially that bit about varying boss difficulty, I really liked that a review finally mentioned that.

Thank you, only reason I decided to tackle it on this site so far out from its release was because I couldn't stop thinking about it. I really felt I had to write about it.

I'm glad I was able to present a different yet still positive summary of the game. At the end of the day, I actually did feel that Dark Souls was a more solid and memorable experience than Skyrim. Only by like a little bit though.

Same for me, only this game is much farther ahead of skyrim imo. either way, good job.

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

Dudeson185d ago (Edited 185d ago )

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.
