SmartHouse - David Richards, Tuesday, 11 Dec 2007:
"Microsoft is going to need more than a new salesman if it is to stay competitive in the gaming console market. Late last week Microsoft who this year have had to face up to claims that 30% of their Xbox 360 consoles were duds appointed a Nestle former food executive Sean Davies as their new Entertainment Devices sales director in an effort to bolster retail sales for their fledgling console and gaming software."
Richards writes that a big problem for the Microsoft Australia is their PR, marketing and brand consistency at a consumer level.
Its creator eliminated components that were not essential to speed up its development, such as the Bluetooth of the controls.
The previously rumored mass layoffs at Xbox are expected to happen on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, according to a new rumor.
They will have fired close to 20,000 people all up after this round of lay-offs coming, since the ABK deal announcement in January 2022. Shocking really
January 2023:
Microsoft laid off 10,000 employees, which was a significant workforce reduction.
January 2024:
Approximately 1,900 gaming employees were laid off following the Activision Blizzard acquisition.
May 2025:
Microsoft announced a further 6,000 layoffs as part of an organizational shift.
June 2025:
Additional layoffs, including 650 in the gaming business, focused on corporate and support functions
Let's hope its not as bad as socials are making it, good luck to those that unfortunately lose their jobs.
Could be not as bad could be horrible. But it's Ms so I'm expecting the absolute worst.
Sometimes I feel like they brought in Sarah to take the heat away from Phil.
Phil has always stuck his nose into everything Xbox related when it's something positive or at least neutral but as soon as they went the multiplatform root he's stood back and let Sarah do most of the talking in terms of PR. Now they are doing the same with layoffs.
The person who should be let go is Phil himself.
The Outerhaven writes: Split/Second was the explosive arcade racing game that outshone Ridge Racer and Burnout. That is, until Disney shut it all down before a sequel could happen.
As a kid i had some heart attacks playing this game. The soundtrack right on point with those close calls. I love this game.
Split/Second was one of the game I enjoyed playing. In fact it's still the most popular video on my YouTube channel. It's a gameplay of Split/Second posted 15 years ago. This past month 25 people viewed it. Split/Second is a favourite amongst racing gamers worldwide.
This game was super awesome and hella fun playing split-screen with the homie. Trashing your friend’s car during split-screen competition using one of those QuickTime events was so funny haha
Its David Richards. Read his previous articles.
edit: well he is supposed to be anti MS. He is the one who made the rumor that MS is releasing a 360 with inbuilt HD-DVD and stuff.
still everything he said is true.
Basically this is an awful article from somebody who is notorious for having an anti-360 agenda.
His criticism also makes no sense. The guys job is to sell Xbox 360s in Australia, he's just a marketer he is not responsible at all for the RROD issue, which already has been fixed thanks to hardware revisions and manufacturing rates and failure rates are down according to MS executives. It's like asking a receptionist at Samsung to fix your TV, it's not gonna happen.
Also, I would like to point out the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 this year in Australia and has outsold the Wii for the last 3 months. Australia is one of Xbox 360s strongest territories, up there with US, Canada and UK
OK WHY IS THIS ON THE PS3 SECTION AGAIN?
haha.........expect more anti microsoft articles from here on out.
its inevitable.
the cosumer, media and average joe are finally realizing what a piece of sh1t the 360 is, and what a value the ps3 is.
just remember my words.
