Nintendo’s Amiibo lineup should add these indie stars to Shovel Knight

The popular figures (which can connect to Wii U and 3DS games) are making Nintendo a lot of money. While they’ve so far all come from Nintendo characters (minus the few third-party mascots that are in Super Smash Bros.), the Japanese company surprised many by recently revealing one based on the hero of the indie platformer Shovel Knight.

Well, why stop there? Here are some indie game stars that deserve their own Amiibos.

Yes please. Actually no. Any more Amiibo's and soon I'll be bankrupt, and require storage solutions.

11 3DS Exclusives That Make Vita Jealous

"Not everyone has both Vita and 3DS, which makes me sad as a general fan of gaming. You’ve already seen me on this website gushing about various Vita exclusives time and time again, and someone else will tackle the eventual list of best Vita games, but today I want to look at a bunch of 3DS exclusives that I love." -PSLS

Etrian Odyssey IV is hard, but actually easy compared to the first three. Those were murder. Great games.

bothebo3340d ago

Yeah this hurts as a Vita owner... OH WAIT WE HAVE INDIES! HA... what a joke...

telekineticmantis3340d ago

I don't most people understand many of Nintendo's games are indies, or atleast have the same retro somewhat simplistic design to them. I'm having a hard time deciding between the 2, I do want to play the pokemon games, but Vita has some games with great gameplay, actual stories, voiced dialogue, but fall short of that great open world experience, like Freedom Wars soul sacrifice delta, should be open like Monster hunter.. I dunno, I think both handhelds can offer more variety.

All_Consoles3340d ago

No, none of nintendo's games are indie games...

telekineticmantis3340d ago (Edited 3340d ago )

@All Consoles
If someone was to make Kirby Rainbow curse, with a different name and Chracter, it would be an indie dev, not a AAA dev, same goes, for Zelda Wind Waker (Oceanhorn is like Wind Waker with voiced dialogue), Donkey Kong country TP, New Super Mario, Zelda Link between worlds, for many Nintendo games there's nothing too elaborate, that an indie dev can't do with a decent Kickstarter. I think Nintendo does this on purpose to have parity between their home and DS handhelds, honestly, that's part of the reason they keep their home Consoles so low power, for better port similarity.

Bravely Default, Shin Megami Tensei IV and Dragon Quest VII would be my reason to buy the 3DS. Two more as good reasons and I will buy it.

FullmetalRoyale3340d ago

Bravely Default was the game I bought with my 3DSXL back when I got it.

I think it is wise to have several games you already know that you want before buying a gaming system. :)

MasterCornholio3340d ago (Edited 3340d ago )

Well you an always buy a 2DS for 100$ which is what I did.

:)

Not a bad price for a Nintendo handheld.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Fire Emblem Awakening
Zelda Link Between Worlds

Three of the greatest video games ever made, on any platform.

FullmetalRoyale3340d ago

Also Bravely Second is coming, so there is one more for you.

;)

Tapani3340d ago

So we need one more! :P

11 Vita exclusives that make the 3ds jealous...

Uncharted Golden Abyss
Gravity Rush
Soul Sacrifice
Freedom Wars
Persona 4 Golden
Phantasy Star Nova
lBP Vita
Tales Of Hearts R
SAO Hallow Fragment
Killzone Mercenary
Ys Memories of Celceta

...Glad I have both consoles so I can enjoy all these exclusives :)

Letthewookiewin3340d ago

Same here. I bought a Vita and later a Vita TV for Persona 4G, and Danganronpa, and just recently the New 3DS for Bravley Default and Fire Emblem. Don't regret any of my purchases.

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3340d ago (Edited 3340d ago )

Gravity Rush
Persona 4 Golden
SAO Hallow Fragment
Ys Memories of Celceta
Phantasy Star Nova

Yes these I agree but doesn't matter to me since I have a Vita and beaten Gravity Rush and currently playing Persona 4 Golden planning to get others two.

Freedom Wars is very good but nothing really to be jealous of.
Killzone is good. Soul Sacrifice is repetitive.

LBP Vita lol why 3DS be jealous when we got
Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Sonic and more better platformers.

Uncharted ah dont get me started with that one.

Tales of Hearts R really

You do know the DS game can be played on 3DS if imported or Japanese users

TheGamez1003340d ago

Forgot to put IMO, so sorry if you disagree.

"LBP Vita lol why 3DS be jealous when we got

you can create stuff, share, and play with others online also i'm not interested in nintendo platformers anymore sadly...

"Tales of Hearts R really

Why yes I do...if I was a 3ds only owner, I'd be jelly of vita owners because it got localized.

Retro Weekend: Cave Story and The Modern Retro Revival

Invisible Gamer's Austin Clark writes,

"Welcome to another installment of Retro Weekend, the weekly feature where I play a classic game and get the chance to write whatever I want about it! This week, I stumbled through the depths of Cave Story, an indie classic before indie classics were even a thing. In terms of "retro" gaming this may not be the oldest game out there, but it certainly is inspired by and even reminds me of some of the finest retro games out there. It got me thinking about this whole retro revival we're in right now..."
