There were some good candidates. I think I'd have to go with Battlefield 3 on PC as my top choice.

I get adrenaline from the sounds alone!

Battlefield 3 is definitely the best sounding game ever. The guys over at DICE actually went over to military bases to record the sound from every gun in the game and also all the vehicles. However, what makes the sound so amazing is that they recorded them from close >>>>>> far in distance.. making for one thrilling eargasm in sound.

Quite possibly. I was in the Marine Corps back in the day, and it's almost eerie hearing the sounds represented this well. I know just what it sounds like to load a magazine in a given weapon or what weapons sound like when they are fired, and those same sounds are coming into my living room when I play this game. DICE went out of their way to get it right.

I'm also always impressed with the way Naughty Dog treats audio. They include a 7.1 LPCM track in all of their Uncharted games, which I'm fortunate enough to be able to use. They do a brilliant job in utilizing the score to provide a cinematic experience. I'm also impressed with the way audio is incorporated in the Dead Space series, although for unknown reasons the tend to not go with the highest available quality track. Why is 5.1 the highest audio option? In a PC game? Same with DS1. Regardless, the way they incorporate sound, especially when used to build tension, is excellent. The sound design and implementation is fantastic.

I had forgotten about L.A. Noire's audio. I do remember it being quite good, and I loved the style. I've already played through it on PS3 awhile ago, but I just picked up the PC version from a Steam sale (~$12 w/ all DLC!). I'll have to give that another try and pay close attention to the audio quality.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel74d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel73d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia74d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda74d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto73d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long73d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?
