^ Its even more awkward you watched that movie despite you finding it "awkward". I bet the only awkward thing was realizing it made you feel good watching it
It didn't feel awkward to me.. but it did to the 2 cowboys as this kind of relationship was not widely accepted in their social world. Sorry for the confusion!
i saw a video of them showing i believe a ps1 game for the missing inputs where they put L2,L3,R2,R3 on the back. I think 4 might be to much and you might mess up alot but with 2 it should be really easy.
I don't see this being any different than a touch pad on a laptop. If there is no visual feedback then it can be awkward to use. Try using a mouse with no mouse pointer for example.
I haven't either. Not sure what he is talking about. Not a single complaint about awkwardness up to this point. Most likely taken out of context as per usual. Why would Sony or anyone from Sony say that when trying to sell the VITA unless you are looking to be fired.
I didn't hear 3DS fans whine about it with all the bad press it got. All I remember seeing was PS3 fanboys saying how Vita was going to destroy the 3DS.
Go up top and search 3DS and then tell me if poor little Sony is getting the short end.
if theres an actual problem with something, by all means, please, shed some light on it. this isnt a problem, and every other piece of media i've seen has said that the rear touchpad is awesome.
this guy quotes a marketing guy saying that the touchpad is great if youre new to games, but if you've been playing for a while you might feel more comfortable using the regular controls. he then takes that to mean that the rear touchpad is awkward.
awkward? no. a change from what people have been doing for 20 years? yes, but not awkward, just different
Sony has really brought gaming forward along side Nintendo.. i love the idea of a front and back touch screen i have a feeling we will see it on the next ds4 and a game that will take full advantage of the touch screens are LBP and puzzle games.. i would like to see a exclusive resident evil and metal gear solid
Also a lot of Ar games like the alien autopsy one we saw.
Basing the whole "akward controls" BS off of this quote from Jim Ryan: “It’s a nice, unique feature, but it’s not something that can be used indiscriminately, because obviously you’ve got the issue of not knowing where exactly your finger is, unless you’re gifted with some sixth sense.”
The author then makes the strawman argument that if anybody suggests that rear-touch panel controls aren't always the best input method, they must therefore be bad controls.
Author - "The statement clearly reveals that the Vita’s rear controls aren’t all that they’re cracked up to be, if even Ryan himself is saying so"
Ryan said nothing of the sort, only that they should be used when they work well with a game and not forced in.
This is an absolutely pointless article taking out one bit of an interview and misappropriating the quote to cherry pick some supposed flaw with the Vita for the authors own bias assumptions.
He has clearly never used a Vita, if he had and actually experienced "awkward" controls in any games, adding that would only support his supposed argument. Of course he hasn't though, and he is merely writing an article for no good reason trying to bash the Vita.
Wow. Talk about spin. Move, Kinect, Sixaxis... basically anything except buttons needs to be implemented well because there are so many ways to do it. Lots of things could be done with any of those, but developers need to use their judgment to make sure their implementation feels natural.
Suggesting it's "awkward" because developers need to consider when it works and when it doesn't is just stupid.
In Uncharted for example, it's very natural to use it with the 'up down' motion to climb ropes. However, when it comes to a different implementation where you need to rotate objects around using the rear panel, it takes quite a lot of getting used to.
The main thing is it's really responsive and when implemented well brings a bunch of new options.
i haven't heard anyone mention it being 'awkward' at all.

people picking at the vita again, I dont have a problem with it and yes its new to get used to,
Gaming media really needs to stop picking at sony.
I think its fine i would use it allot.

That awkward moment when you have nothing awkward to talk about.
