IGN: PlayStation 3 Game of the Year 2011

Another 365 days are behind us, and that can only mean one thing -- it's time to pick the greatest game the PlayStation 3 saw in 2011. Will it be the Cinderella story that was Portal 2? Can The Elder Scrolls IV: Skyrim overcome technical complications to be the champion? Or is Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception just too good to overlook? Let's find out!

Skyrim and Uc3... can't really choose :(

ksense4935d ago

there is no way in hell skyrim is winning the goty on ps3 with the ridiculous amount of problems it has on that platform. it will for xbox and pc though.

Berserk4935d ago

Agree even though "for me" it would be a tough choice. Considering all the trouble with Skyrim, it cant be the GOTY. Was shocked when I saw it won the VGA, since so many people complained.

rezzah4935d ago

take your time, not like it will matter.

These GOTY title attachments to games do, as they provide more recognition. Which is likely to lead to better sales, which in turn will hopefully lead to better sequels or new games.

Skyrim... took an arrow to the knee <_<

»———› Arrow to your face. Jk lol. Those jokes getting old fast.

and while batman was a massive improvement over its original it isnt enough to topple ND! I cant wait for the next Title from ND.

MS could compress their games on disc

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg30d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan40d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Simon's Quest is better than Symphony.

If you're gonna troll, at least make a legitimate attempt.

Levii_9246d ago

Hot damn that's a good list. The only one i never played is AOE2 and i never finshed Chrono Trigger but it was damn good.

Speaking of what's old but holds up amazingly well and plays like a dream.. i played Symphony of the Night for the first time in 2019.. yep that's right. It became one of my favourite games of all time that i replay almost every year. I couldn't believe how good it was. That is almost impossible for me with newer games let alone older ones. Truly a special gem.

LG_Fox_Brazil45d ago

That's a pretty fucking great list

__y2jb45d ago (Edited 45d ago )

The only one I’d disagree with is doom. It shows its age badly I think. After 5 minutes of play these days you put it down.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast68d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic68d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee68d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator68d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast68d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
