GUFUyourself writes - "Let’s not sugarcoat things here; Sonic just isn’t what he used to be. Despite being on top of the world in the early 90s, and adding a couple of solid 3D entries under his belt, the once iconic hedgehog has been drowning in a sea of mediocrity for the better part of his twenty year existence. Bogged down by some awful design decisions, a slew of terrible games, and an ever-growing army of annoying animal amigos, it looked as though Sonic was destined to remain bargain bin material. But with the release of his previous adventure, Sonic Colors, new life was breathed into the franchise, helping the aging speedster regain some of his long lost swagger. Following that success, and with SEGA riding on the coattails of Sonic’s 20th Anniversary, Sonic Team tries to catch lightning in a bottle once again with Sonic Generations."
Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?
Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.
Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.
Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2
Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭
The divide between both iterations of Sonic is now reaching spin-off territory, and the way Sega is handling it is both a blessing and a curse.

While Sega is looking forward, the company is also looking back. It’s giving us Sonic Origins, a retooled collection of Genesis classics. However, this package fails to provoke a burning question: what’s the best Sonic handheld game?"
