The Battle of the City Builders

The general consensus is that whilst SimCity is potentially a good game, it’s not a great city builder. The size, scale, and depth of the game, including how everything is managed is very formulaic – and many people have said it’s not unlike Facebook flash games in the way that you progress. Your ultimate goal isn’t simply managing a vast and complex city, so much as working with friends to support each-other, aiming for one of the monumental region structures, for the benefit of everyone in the region.

SimCity not working for you? 5 alternative city-building games

Publisher Electronic Art’s latest city-building game is struggling. SimCity requires a constant connection to the Internet, but its servers are collapsing under high demand. Gamers can’t even start playing. Others are losing progress as connections timeout and the game fails to save. It’s a mess. EA is trying to fix the problem by adding new servers, but that could take a couple of days.

In the meantime, plenty of similar games are out and available even if you don’t have a reliable connection.

I'd normally scoff at CityVille but....

Anno has junk DRM, too. Not always-online, but activation limit without any revoke tools. I wanna try Cities XL, though.

Cities xl needs to be optimized. Once you reach a certain amount the game just slows down. Regardless of how much your pc can handle it. I have it and it pretty good. Just thats one of the major issues about It

The Genres That The Wii U Will Dominate

When you hear about certain genres of games headed to consoles, it is easy to be excited or just not even care about it. You know if the mechanics will work or not just by hearing something like "console MMO". The Wii U can take these genres and make console life actually work.

RTS, Maybe?

I can picture myself playing some really cool RTS's on the Wii U like pikmin

The genre that most famous on nintendo consoles is shovelware and I don't think that going to change with the wii U

Troll much? Anyways besides your stupid ass comment I'm looking forward to how a Zelda game is going to work..apparently this troll above me forgot what the highest rated series is..

omarzy4712d ago

gaming advice from a user with a final fantasy 13 avatar...move on people. change it to final fantasy 10, and i will listen. anyway, back on topic. It seems like you do not know anything about nintendo. wait a minute...only nintendo knowledge seems to be from trolls during the Wii era...great, another "gaming expert" who bought their first console 2 years ago. troll is obvious

PrimeLantern4711d ago

I gave a disagree to him for his comment. Final Fantasy preference had nothing to do with it.

Should be interesting to see how new tech will change up the wii's gameplay. I get the sense we don't have much more than a small idea of what it can do.

I would love to be able to play a civ game on my couch with just a controller...

MMORPG's could do very well on the system with the touchscreen interface. Of course, those games would have to make the transition from the PC market, but I'm sure they could do well.
