Gaming Gauge writes: "A common criticism of portable systems’ lineups is that there are too many ports and remakes of older console games. Whilst it is a fact that a sizable amount of quality titles in their libraries are of this nature it seems unfair to disregard quality games simply because they’ve appeared somewhere else in the past. Here’s why:"
Game Rant interviews Plants vs. Zombies composer Peter McConnell about honoring the series’ quirky roots, adapting its themes, and now going vinyl.
The score for the first Plants Vs Zombies is such great, iconic music that it has a timeless quality. Not quite the level of Minecraft, but wonderful in its own right.

Well yeah. I mean I have Tales of the Abyss 3D and if it weren't for the fact it came out for 3DS, unless i bought a US PS2, I would have never have got to play the game. I have a Japanese PS2 but importing JP games is expensive these days. I barely do it anymore unless I actually go to Japan.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 on PSP was awesome. I'll admit I was never really interested in VC on PS3, even though I'm assured it's better than the sequel, but I loved it on my hand-held. I just find the gameplay better suited to a portable console.
When I'm playing PS3 I like something more real-time, like an FPS or Demon's/ Dark Souls. But when I'm on my PSP, that's when I did into the strategic games and RPGs.
Also, there's the ports of older games that I just never got to play, and that are perfectly suited for hand-held gaming. Like Persona 3 (P3P), FF: Tactics, Disgaea, etc. All games I never got to play, and that I enjoy the hell out of on my PSP.
To me what doesn't work aren't the ports; it's when they try to shoe-horn a franchise on a portable console when it just doesn't work. See: Killzone Liberation. Terrible, terrible game, but not a port.
Author makes some very good points. :)
Also even if we were gaming 5 years ago - we might not have heard about, or had time or means to pick up those games back then. :)
Even though im getting a Vita which is a handheld that will have a ton of new and innovative titles. I will be buying all FF for the PSX and FFX alongside with the MGSHD collection. Marvel Vs Capcom seems like a great port from the PS3 to play on the go as well.
