Call of Duty: Modern warfare 3: Pros and cons

FPSWin - "There's a lot to be said about the new Modern Warfare. I, myself, am completely in love with the game, but it's flaws, for some people, can be hard to over-look at times."

Beatboxtaun4578d ago

You forgot the con of motion sickness. Wait...is that just me? darn...

FragGen4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

COD Haters:

If you don't like it, don't buy or play. Vote with your wallet. I like COD a lot and can hack $60/year (I don't buy the map packs) to play the current skin/map set/campaign/co-op mode. Like any fad, it'll eventually die down. (I remember reading somewhere fads usually last ~3 years on average so it is already due somewhat).

In terms of cost per hour of entertainment, I'm quite happy with the value it provides and hardly expect it to morph wildly into some crazy new innovative game/style/engine when it sells like hotcakes, as is.

I guess I'm easily entertained. LOL. I just don't get all the fanboy tears that get shed every time COD has a successful release. At least it doesn't freeze my PS3 like BF3 is doing @ the moment. :(

Beatboxtaun4576d ago

He's laughing because I get motion sickness when I play certain games. ~.0 joking...but I wanted to play Mirror's Edge so badly. I played the demo and wanted to throw up. =/ What a good game to miss, too. *sigh*

There Pros and Cons

Pros:
-Shotguns have been moved to primary weapons, and secondary weapons have been limited to launchers and pistols eliminating some over-powering issues from Modern Warfare 2.
-Grenade launchers, aka, “Noob toobs” have been nerfed and made more difficult to kill with.
-New weapons and new perks with creative pros.
-New game types including Kill Confirmed and Survival mode.
-More reasonable challenges.
-Weapon skins are now level based as opposed to how many head shots you can get.
-Killstreak rewards program improved.

Cons:
-Lack of detail in some of the guns, including the L18A1. -Poorly drawn to detail and when compared to the -Intervention in Modern Warfare 2 it almost looks as though we’ve gone back in time.
-Some maps appear to be extremely over-crowded and cluttered with random items.
-Very few legit sniper maps.
-Graphics don’t appear to be improved from Modern Warfare 2.
-Identical game play style, some have even referred to Modern Warfare 3 as “Modern Warfare 2.5″ .

My Pros and Cons...
Pros - If you liked the original Modern Warfare then you will like this

Cons - If you didn't like the original Modern Warfare then you won't like this as it is the same game with a new skin.

Avernus4578d ago

Same game, same skin, different number in series...

Don't know why the disagree though, as you brought up good pro and cons.

GamerSciz4578d ago

To be fair, the original list is there list. It's just so you dont have to waste your time going to the site to see..well a list. My list is on the bottom, very straight forward.

InTheLab4578d ago

The addition of the automated overpowered death machines and the now apparent age of the IW engine are what's different for me.

Other than that, I largely agree with what you said.

svoulis4578d ago

Honestly, being a heavy COD player since COD 4, and forward this game has been completely NOOB friendly compared. Literally painting targets with flash bangs for the entire duration of them being alive (Recon perk)...And people are complaining about "assassin" being over powered.

PRO TIP: Use Recon, throw flash bang in center of map and success.
PRO TIP 2: Use Sitrep Pro if you want to hear footsteps louder. (for you campers out there)

This is by far the easiest COD yet even the campaign was easy.

Tigerfist4578d ago

Cons:

Same shit, diffrent name, full price.

Ridiculous plot... The single player is full of cliches and bad habits from this gaming gen.

A gameplay shaped to the demands of the good old internet crybabies that ends up ignoring the military feel of the thing. It ends up beeing a simple arcade style shooter.

Pros: (I can't see valid ones but even so...)

New features that COD fans will enjoy (modes, weapons and etc...)

Competitive and populated multiplayer?

All in all, COD could be a special game but it ends up beeing not much more than overrated bullshit.

svoulis4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

Call of Duty cannot be special because the developers are fighting 2 types of people. People like you who think that its the same exact game with a different number after the name who want change and better graphics and gameplay. The others being the however many million of people who buy the game and like it the way it is,therefor they wont run the risk of changing anything drastically because they'll lose sales and Activision won't let that happen.

By numbers alone it means they'll keep COD the same for its entire life cycle to keep sales up and as much as people will hate on it, as long as it sells they could care less.

Avernus4578d ago

So because someone doesn't like it, they're a "hater". I don't like the sun, so I'm hating on the sun? lol

Millions buy it because it's COD, not because it's the same bloody game that plays the same way. You think people would say "I won't buy COD because they're changing the graphics and engine!"...no.

Activision won't spend money on a new engine because it's about profit margins. Same can be said about having dedicated servers for consoles. Nothing to do with the fear of losing sales numbers.

Ativision will run the same engine ragged till next gen. Then they'll run THAT engine till the following gen.

GamerSciz4578d ago

You sir just explained what is wrong with the gaming industry today. We have developers making us pay for broken games that they know are broken yet people buy them. We have gamers who are no better buying those games simply for the sake of buying them. It's a lose-lose situation right now but the gamers do have the upper hand.

If we as gamers refuse to buy broken games, or games that are practically a large expansion pack at a full $60 price tag, then maybe the developers will catch on and actually change their attitude and milking techniques. We as the gamers ALLOW for the milking to go on since we buy the games.

Tigerfist4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

Yes, they are creating what sells.

But to what extent is the name doing the magic? We can only speculate about that subject: If making it a better game would ruin it for the masses.

PS: Making excuses for a lack of a new engine also bullshit. That one is all about profits...

svoulis4578d ago (Edited 4578d ago )

@Avernus

Hating on it means bashing it for being what it is (COD). When in fact that is all it is, my point was if they decided to make a new game from the ground up (engine, story, multiplayer etc) and the fans didn't like it than it would tank and that would be the end of COD. So yes you are right, Activision will run the same engine because of profit.

@GamerSciz,

I agree about if we as gamers do not buy the games it will open developers eyes. Except that wont happen cause the amount of gamers that wont buy expansion packs like MW3 do not compare even close to the numbers that will, and that is what kills COD for me.

Avernus4578d ago

No it won't. Core gameplay will always be COD's selling point. Fast, arcady, and noob friendly for casual gamers. The only way they'll lose sales is if they made the game harder to get kills in.

You're saying a better game, with better graphics and engine would scare consumers away? I disagree. So long as it remains true to the COD experience, everyone will buy it like hot bread.

By the COD experience I mean not the same old engine and looks, I mean the casual gamer friendly gameplay.

Welcome to the N4g. Where the gamers complain about gamer stereotypes while acting like gamer stereotypes.

Elda10d ago

Bigots & there are plenty on this site.

just_looken10d ago

The down votes because this is call of duty a first person shooter not pride month parade #45

I used to play first person shooter's for the military on military action not to watch someone with a pride flag stapled onto a cat shooting a gun from the boys on a map from my little pony.

Now you first up a game its all over your splash screen almost like a porn game can i just play a quick game like it was on the ps3 era ffs.

Elda9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

It's an article that's talking about COD & Pride freebies that coincides Pride month. June is the month of Pride & in the city & state of NY Puerto Rican heritage is celebrated including the LGBTQ community. You know where you can take your BS bigotry.

just_looken9d ago

@ ELDA

Go bang a dude or be a trans i do not care just do not spread that crap in my face 24/7

I do not care if its dung beetal month i am just sick on tired of it being everywhere like the fury shit or in the old days were church's went door 2 door preaching like gtfo with your cult crap.

Elda9d ago

It goes to show how immature you are because the article didn't look for you you decided to enter the article yourself knowing you knew what the article was about from the get go. Your ignorance shows through knowing Pride month isn't just for the LGBTQ but for all cultures & communities. No one put a gun to your head to enter this article you decided to enter the article just to spew your negative bigoted BS or just maybe you entered the article out of curiosity because you're a closet case.

just_looken9d ago

I entered the article because its about call of duty a videogame because we are on a videogame website
