The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been out for over a week now, but there are games that have been out for years that I found a heck of a lot more fun.

no way! Skyrim isn't his favorite game of all time? how did that happen? /s

DLight034531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Skyrim is the best game ever made in the history of games and even better than some non-games like sex.

SCIENTIFIC FACT

Pikajew4531d ago

I can name tons of games that are better

violents4531d ago

1-4 on his list look absolutly terrible, kiddy rpg games and the like. the last three did look cool tho. haven't picked up skyrim yet so i cant say if they would be more fun, but it seems to me that why would you even compare a game from 1996 to something that is a new release 13 yrs and like 4 console generations later? And honestly im not gonna go out and buy an outdated console to play these games. I have the newest console because i like the awsome graphics and more realistic AI capabilities.

DLight034531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic but I'll respond anyway -_-

You know that classic movie that is just plain better than most of the movies that have been released since? That's what some of these games are.

I would take the risk and play Grim Fandango if I were you. It's on PC, although it may be difficult to get up and running on Windows 7, not sure.

I wouldn't trade my experience playing Grim Fandango for almost anything. It's a fantastic game, and the dialogue alone is probably better than any game that has ever been released since.

No not being sarcastic and i can appriciate what your saying but it's just not the same way i look at my gaming. I dont know in my opinion your comparing apples to oranges, if you get my drift.

That's one of the most stupidest things I've ever read on this site.

Who gives a shit about the release date of something, or the AI, or graphics, name, whatever. It's gameplay. And the absolute fact is old games had more originality and were also more fun in my opinion.
Sure, I still enjoy playing some recent games, but the "fun" element is very rare for me these days.

DO NOT underestimate something, whether it's a video-game, movie, book, or even a person or anything just because of a statistic, or an age, etc.

krautgamer4531d ago

you know we had cool games too after the year 1999

admiralthrawn874531d ago

this generation of young gamers unfortunately will never get the same feeling that games gave us while they were still in the womb. its a shame that awesome to you is COD, Skyrim, BF3, gears of war. if you only knew how cheap of an experience these games offer compared to older games.

i'm sorry you grew up on a 360. its not your fault

krautgamer4531d ago

excuse me? i grew up with a ps2.. the oldest console for like ever!!

grailly4531d ago

meh, I'm starting to think that we loved our games back then because we were young and it was the first exposure we got to that kind of media. I really am having trouble going back to most of the games I loved when I was a kid. My guess is, kids of this generation will cherish modern games the way we cherish our older games

Krew_924531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Was your PS2 comment sarcasm? Just saying haha.

Alos884531d ago (Edited 4531d ago )

Oh Grim Fandango, why were you forgotten? You were one of the last truly great point n' click adventure games.

I'm Replaying Skyrim (again), and So Should You

Replaying Skyrim after 13 years is a reminder of the progress made in western RPGs over the last decade, but also what's been lost.

I tried, but it's a poorly made game that insults its customers.

lucian22920d ago

nah, only mods make it decent, and even then it's bad, and this is after i modded for at least 3 years

Nittdarko20d ago

Funnily enough, I'm about to play it for the first time in VR with 1000 mods to make the game playable, as is the Bethesda way

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan20d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
