GameZone's David Sanchez reviews Centipede: Infestation for the Nintendo Wii. Is this reimagining of the classic arcade game a proper modernization of the series?
Retrovolve: "I saw a lone copy of Centipede: Infestation sitting on the clearance shelf next to a slew of forgettable Wii shovelware (there were no less than twenty copies of The Black Eyed Peas Experience). It was ten bucks and it looked terrible, so if nothing else it was more ammo for curmudgeonly fodder about the belittling of classic game franchises. I let it sit around for a few days and then finally decided to pop it in my dusty Nintendo Wii."
Backlog Quest is a month long special event on Clearance Bin Review featuring daily game reviews of the games that have sat on the shelf for simply too long; old and new.
From Day 2 – Centipede: Infestation, Tristan Rendo writes "Centipede is pretty much what you would call a classic. The game has been around forever and has existed in almost as many forms as there are legs on a giant centipede. So a “true reboot” of the franchise sounded interesting, and the bright colorful graphics of this 3DS title maintained that interest. Centipede: Infestation is, at its core, a twin stick shooter. Of course, being the 3DS, there isn’t a twin stick so it is really more of a unistick/button combo shooter (but that doesn’t have the same ring to it). Combined with a sort of tower-defense gameplay, it makes for a simple but ultimately enjoyable experience."
Chris Buffa (Modojo): For some unexplainable reason, we missed Atari's Centipede Infestation when it debuted on 3DS in November, but decided to check out the game after learning it was developed by WayForward, the same talented studio behind Aliens: Infestation, Shantae: Risky's Revenge and Mighty Milky Way.
In other words, we set the bar too high.
Seems decent but it just looks weird
nice, I think I'll try it.. sometimes I like games where you don't have to think, just shoot..but only sometimes :)
