The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Review | Da GameBoyz

Skyrim is good, but it's a flawed good. It's a different experience in many ways to previous Elder Scrolls games, but, at the same time, it's still the familiar world Elder Scrolls fans know and love. It has the usual kickass story, but the difficulty curve is a bit wobbly, to say the least, and, in general, it's a story of give and take. I'd still give this my thumbs up, but only to RPG fans, as opposed to newbies to the genre. You want a “my first RPG” to ease you in, this isn't it. You want an entertaining, but sometimes frustrating experience? Go for it, empty your wallets, and don't be like the douches who torrented this game with no intention of buying.

this seems like an honest review, I think too many sites are overrating Skyrim imo

Yes and No.

I think it's how Falout 3 was. It had a lot of issues technically but the story and gameplay and overall experience was so good, many just ignored the flaws. Many do that in Skyrim as well. It's got issues. I think too many to warrant a perfect score, but it's still a 10 on the inside...behind those flaws that need to be fixed.

I think it's sad in a way, cause Fallout New Vegas is just as good as any other of the titles and because it wasn't made by Bethesda, the reviewers ripped into it harshly and bashed it and gigged it to death for every flaw, when in fact it was a huge improvement technically and in how it play.

I am still happy with my PS3 version of Skyrim. I do feel like Bethesda screwed us on it. And well after seeing the PC version, as well, it seems they got a bit jerked around too. Almost as it was a 360 game ported to PS3/PC which is such a diservice to the fans if you ask me.

Honestly, New Vegas did not need it's own game. It could have easily been a DLC expansion like what they were doing with the Fallout 3 DLC. I didn't even buy New Vegas because all it was was an improvement to Fallout 3 but not noticeably different. Fallout 3 was still better.

fail review from a fail site.

Game is a buggy mess. People saying its GOTY forget what being GOTY means. Releasing a faulty product to beat a deadline and then just patching it after the milliosn of complaints isnt GOTY status.

Im the biggest elder scrolls fan, but even i know better than to buy on release day, cause theyll release a bugged product and patch it over the next year. Id rather wait 6 months to get the game hte way it was supposed to be released than be a beta tester.

When 360 released early to beat ps3 to market and they had a 40%+ hardware failure rate, would you have rated it Console of the Year?

Wait scratch that ... a lot of idiots did ...

Skyrim may be a tad bit underated by some people who had problems on PS3 and those who only put in a few hours and judged it.

History will show that this is by far the best game created this generation. There is just no game out there that even come close to pulling off half of the things that are done so well in this game. Some of the side quest alone are better than some full games that you guy payed $60 for. I understand some people can't handle a game of this scale, buy those people are the minority in the core gaming world.

Overrated indeed. It's a great game, no doubt there, but they should have taken more time with it.

With the amount of flaws and problems the game shipped with it should never have scored as high as it did.

Bethesda sells a buggy final product because they know they can get away with it, plain and simple.

Weak review; Skyrim = GOTY

I'm new to TES, but I LOVE Skyrim. The only other RPG I really enjoyed was Red Dead Redemption, which Skyrim reminds me of to a degree. No other game has consumed as many hours of my life and attention as Skyrim. As hyped as it was, it has exceeded my expectations.

Stewie2k84910d ago

Red Dead Redemption is not an RPG lmao. it's an open world action-adventure game

chaldo4910d ago (Edited 4910d ago )

everytime a big game gets a low score, you guys go "AWWWW BAD REVIEW, TROLLLL TROLLL OMG!"

a 6 is a bad score, not a 7. Besides, why read the review? If you like the game then that's good enough right?

Same goes with AC revleations, idgaf if it did not get great scores, i love it.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast19d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic19d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee20d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator19d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast19d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
