Sony has confirmed the news in a statement to Game Informer. "We can confirm the Jak and Daxter Collection is coming and will have more news to share shortly."
The recent announcement of Jak 2 fan remake grabbed the attention of Naughty Dog co-president, Evan Wells.
just bought the Jak collection a few hours ago for vita! my platforming experience atm is unparalleled ; ). ND nailed it with JakIII, theyre all amazing games. even the psp one was good. i better see a JakIIII this gen it would ruin my social life. wait i already did that.

i was using tally marks... jk. silly mistake, mustve been the excitement. im actually the "fourth" of my generation and have written IV at the end of my name my whole life, so ironic!!! lol.
Be careful, Jak II will make you snap your Vita in half, especially on the hero mode play through. The Forest mission, Sewer mission and one of the two turret missions are the hardest missions of all the Jak games. With unlimited ammo on the second play through everything mentioned is easier EXCEPT the turret missions; NONE of the cheat unlocks help on those missions and the flying enemies are twice as hard to kill (go for the head or their rocket packs).
The hardest thing in Jak III was the button press mini-game on the satellite (it's easy enough to complete for the required story mission, but the revisit to get the Gold high score and the 9 orb reward is hard).
I'm playing right now Jak and Daxter collection too, finished Jak 1 and now i will start Jak 2.

Jak2 is the best Jak in the series to me, followed closely by Daxter PSP.
I don't know what a remake might bring to Jak 2 because the game is perfect the way it is. What we need is a brand new episode.
If Sony made a next gen Jak and Daxter,and brought out more platformers, I would buy a PlayStation again for the firsr time since the PS2.
If t was a square enix game, they'd wait until the fan project was nearly completed and then send out a cease and desist :P Good to see that's not the issue with ND and they appreciate fan projects :D
So awesome that he's okay with this happening! That's how it should be! Looking at you Square Enix and Nintendo, always shutting down fan remakes of games. :[
I came n here to point that very thing out :) All those chrono trigger fan projects, may they RIP :(
Apparently Nintendo has backed down on that recently and has now apparently embraced fan made projects or "derivative works" as they call them.
Square Enix still sucks.
Maybe Evan is ok with it but SONY on the other hand might be thinking 'slow your role there partner'.
Mario 64 is getting a fan HD remake, like DragonKnight said they don't really have an issue with it anymore.

For sure, that series actually had some originality going for it. Every Uncharted game feels the same gameplay wise.
The PS2 had the best games.
I was thinking about this the other day and although I liked the PS2 I think IMO that the PS1 had the best games. There were just so many good ones I was rattling them off for like 10 minutes and still missing some. I thought of more while typing this even. Both were great generations for gaming!!
Jak and these older games are better off left with the indie crowd. Studios with a ton of money and talent should stick to new games with new features. Stuff that wasn't possible before.
