While the mechanics and graphics are a little dated in execution by today’s standards, compared to the smoothness of more recent next generation titles, the core gameplay still holds true and is beyond engaging. The ever so subtle musical and beautiful lighting cues (even now) capture your attention and the plot allows you to draw your own conclusions about Yorda and Ico’s predicament. Are they dead? Dreaming? In purgatory? It’s those poignant moments that make Ico an absolute masterpiece of gaming.

Technically Shadow of the Colossus is a PS2 remaster on PS3 but it is interesting seeing the progress made with emulation.
