Gearbox to honor late fan as an NPC in Borderlands 2

Destructoid's Tony Ponce writes, "This morning, we received an email from a Destructoid fan named Carlo who shared a story about his late friend Michael John Mamaril. Last month, Michael passed away due to cancer at the young age of 22. Both were huge Borderlands fans, so Carlo thought a great way to honor his buddy's memory would be to shoot Gearbox Software an email asking for a short eulogy to be read by the game's smart-mouthed robot mascot Claptrap."

WARNING! POOR TASTE JOKE BELOW!

Well, at least they will have an excuse for the stiff animations for once.

On a serious note though, that is a really cool thing for Gearbox to do, much respect for them.

Someone dying is nothing to joke about.

DarkBlood4970d ago

i wouldnt give a damn if someone made a joke on me if i ever were to die of something someday

Chnswdchldrn4970d ago

its the internet. your moral values are invalid

BX814970d ago (Edited 4970d ago )

@DarkBlood. That's ok because you don't mind, so I'll be sure when you die to make a comment about how your dad pipped you as a kid but for someone you don't know it's not so funny.

DarkBlood4970d ago

fair enough i guess, since it should be obvious to me the only ones caring if its funny or not are the ones that are alive for which i did not laugh at whatever joke the guy was trying to make anyways

Laxman4970d ago

Loosen up. If you cant make light hearted jokes about a tragedy, then there is nothing but the pain, misery and sadness that comes with it. It only makes it worse becuase all you are thinking about is the bad behind it.

When i Die, ill Leave so much Debt that my Tombstone will be Repo'd

chazjamie4970d ago

@laxman. those are some wise words. I been watching every season of 6 feet under, and my word you nailed it.
i am telling my friend today when i die, he must send an email to capcom and inform them that i am the biggest Dante (DMC) fan to exist. Hopefully capcom still loves their fans as much as their fans love their games (not all games)

I like what they say here...And the graphics on the gameplay shown are insane!

"The Nintendo Switch 2 has been a joy to work with. It's VERY POWERFUL. It's an incredible machine in a very tight form factor."

"We don't feel like we're fighting the system. We feel like's the system's empowering us to make the best version of Boderlands 4 we can."

Cancer Patient Gets Actually Flown Out First Class By Gearbox To Play Borderlands 4

Cancer patient Caleb McAlpine has received VIP treatment from Gearbox Software, following official acknowledgement of his story.

gold_drake195d ago

im glad he got to enjoy whatever they had prepared for him

Vits195d ago

Gearbox has a lot of problems, but one thing they’ve consistently done right is showing appreciation for their fans. Immortalizing Michael Mamaril in the second game was genuinely cool and so is this.

Demetrius195d ago

I remember rockstar doing the same thing with red dead 2 I think, that's dope, also shows that us guys just want to sit back have a great time on gems we enjoy

Skate-AK195d ago

Good thing they went the extra mile and flew him out. We all know about Randy and his love of webcams.

"gets actually" is now acceptable, and published? Wow! Actually gets, is how it should read. I have been reading more and more stories everywhere that are grammatical incorrect. BTW, I thank God for spell check. My spelling is awful. Great news though!

stoney101194d ago

The 'actually' isn't required at all.
