Stephen Lindsey of GGC says: "As soon as I heard that this year’s Independent Game Festival had come to a close for submissions, I had this little thought in the back of my head, “This year’s going to break a record.” This wasn’t happy optimism (okay, it was that too), as much as it was just playing the odds that I’ve noticed over the previous years that I’ve been covering indie games and IGF. Since I started in 2009, each and every year the event has continued to grow and grow and this year is just like the others.
Today, Brazil Games is pleased to announce the new date for Brazil’s Independent Games (BIG) Festival, the largest and most important independent games festival in Latin America. The eighth edition of BIG Festival will take place at the Frei Caneca Convention Center in São Paulo from May 5 to 9, 2021.
'The Independent Games Festival is becoming a quite prestigious event for Indie Game developers. Topping last year’s record of 589 entries for their Main Competition the IGF 2014 had 656 official contestants. The jury is ready with the initial voting and thus finalists were revealed.
Among them are games that made it to the top lists of many gaming networks as a GOTY award nominees – The Stanley Parable, Simogo’s Device 5 and Papers, Please.' - GamerHeadlines
Finalists at the 2014 Independent Games Festival will be offered distribution through Steam, Valve’s PC game platform. Each Main Competition finalist in jury-voted categories will have the opportunity to work with Steam to have their game digitally distributed via Steam.
