Matt Helgeson writes: Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure is an odd title. It’s the most interesting entry in the Spyro universe since creators Insomniac parted ways with their cute purple dragon. However, it’s not what you expect. This is not a platformer – there’s not even a jump button. Instead, it’s a Diablo-style action/RPG loot-fest aimed at the younger set, augmented by an admittedly clever interface that allows you to swap in small figurines that become in-game characters through the use of a lighted base connected to your console.
The 2010s occupy a difficult time slot in the world of gaming. The games aren't new enough to be "cool" but they aren't old enough to be "retro." So basically, they're cheap. Ghetto Gamer contributor Hyp3rblue digs deep--but not too deep--into gaming's past to see what we may have just missed.
Asura's Wrath was underrated and the dlc was one of the few times i actually felt like a dlc was worth the money.
Everytime I see a picture of Asura's Wrath I get a moment of happiness for knowing that niche game and then the realization of why it failed with the DLC that made me hate Capcom to the point of saying I wouldn't buy a game of theirs again!
(bought DMC5 on release)
well I agree this list is terrible. Had to click just to see how bad it was. If someone wanted to know wt the best games were this decade and stumbled upon this list they would think "wt happened to gaming in the 2010's" lol
The successes of Ratchet and Clank and the Crash-themed Easter eggs shown in Uncharted 4, have a lot of individuals hopeful for a new game. Yet, we have heard that Activision holds the rights to franchise the beloved bandicoot. With their focus on releasing the next Call of Duty, would it be worth their time to make money on nostalgia?
If Sony released a new Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon games on PS4 I would literally flip out and scream like a little girl
Crash, spyro, gex, croc, tombi, medievil... They need to come back, for the love of the platform gaming!

I wouldn't go that far. I still think 'A Hero's Tail' is by far the best post-Insomniac Spyro game because it (mostly) followed the classic formula.
Skylanders is a decent enough game, but it's not going to be a game that people will still talk about 10+ years from now, unlike the original games which are still popular to this day.
The game is somewhat a step in the right direction for the series, but there is still a lot of things that need fixing. The game plays too much like a Diablo-styled action/RPG, which is not a good thing for a Spyro game, and of course, there is also the toy issue...
The developers have said (many months ago) that if the game is successful they will give Spyro his own games again (which means no more useless toys, since there is only one playable character), separate from future Skylanders games. When/IF this happens, they need to make the Spyro games play more like the originals. Keep the dungeon crawler gameplay away from Spyro, please!
