You don't say that on a PS3 site. True as it may be. The guy freaking regenerates from everything

Christopher4951d ago

And Kratos always climbs his way back out of Hell...

blpoole4951d ago

But if you read the comics. Wolverine beat the devil and climbed out of hell as well

Quagmire4950d ago

As the Joker so perfectly commented: "This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object"

Unstoppable force being Kratos, Immovable object being Wolverine.

IMO, Wolverine would win, despite Kratos crawling his way back from the Dead, he will still be killed in order to do so.

Hmm, I'll have to go with Kratos. There is just to much chaos in his eyes ...

@rezzah:

Zeus is/was a God btw

rezzah4951d ago

that alone isn't reason for someone to be victorious.

With this fight the most essential thing that Wolverine has over kratos is his regeneration.

His flesh was burnt off in a atomic explosion, all that was left was his bones. From that he regenerated.

Unless Kratos can find a way to destroy his bones I don't think he can ever kill him.

palaeomerus4951d ago

The gods aren't really that impressive in God of War though. They seem like something Spider-man or a basic ninja could take out. They are bitches in video game terms. If you fight a low end Zeus and win that's not that big of a deal.

The Real Peter Moore4951d ago (Edited 4951d ago )

What are you people crazy (you Wolverine guys) Kratos would demolish him! Completely and utterly destroy him. Kratos is WAY stronger and takes on giants the size of mountains and gods! Wolverine gets his ass kicked by everybody. He is weak and pathetic (and i love Wolverine). Wolverine would not stand much of a chance!. Kratos is like the Hulk the madder you get him the deadlier he becomes. Kratos is a much better fighter too. I'd like to see Wolverine take on Poseidon or Hades or Zeus or Kronos or Gia, it just wouldnt happen. Kratos is Hercules strong and almost unkillable. No way! they are not even on the same league

Soplox4951d ago

Wolverine Defeated Hulk once and got a tie with Hulk once too

blpoole4951d ago

I can't agree with you. I think most avid wolverine fans (comic wolverine, not the BS hugh jackman wolverine) will tell you he is anything but weak and pathetic. You also have to take in to account that wolverine has studied almost every fighting style on the planet, and has indestructible bones.

The Real Peter Moore4951d ago

the only reason i said wek and pathetic is becuase he is always getting beat up by nobodies. And yes Wolverine beat Hulk once but so what, thats just Marvel bullshit. Everybody has beaten everybody once in Marvel. But come on, we all know who is tougher out of Wolverine and the Hulk. And please, Wolverine could not take on Kratos. Just look at how they fight. Kratos wins almost all his battles, Wolverine gets beat up all the time.

hotskys4951d ago

^That's because nobody but idiot fans want their hero to win all the time. Even superman has weaknesses. Sorry but having my superhero win all the fights get's boring. I love it when batman died in the comics, it shows mortality and realism.

Having Kratos win all the time is boring.
Wolverine can't die. Kratos can, but the developers just give him some bs way to come back.

Wanna know why Wolverine loses fights? because he is immortal, what does he really have to lose except some dignity? Regardless of who could win the fight, I'd much rather cheer for a better and more developed character.

Wolverine.

Why?

Because he's more popular.

Quagmire4950d ago

Regeneration > Douchebag-edness

Thats why Wolverine wins.

BigBoss074951d ago

Wolverine would more than likely dominate the fight unless Kratos got a hold of his head like he did with Apollo. Decapitated Wolverine=Dead Wolverine.

MariaHelFutura4951d ago

Kratos has some serious ranged attacks, Wolverine doesn't.

Eiffel4951d ago

Wolverines skeleton is encased in adamantium, the toughest material known, indestructible basically. He can't be decapitated.

MariaHelFutura4951d ago

Kratos kills gods. Wolverine fights mutants.

SH0CKW4VE4951d ago

and one of those mutants happens to be the hulk who could beat the crap out of the "Gods" from GOW

InNomeDiDio4951d ago

Haven you seen Hercules in GOW3 dude? Kratos beat him. Kratos is a God-Killer. He would even find a way to kill Wolverine just like he managed to kill Hades and all the other ones.

blpoole4951d ago

@InNomeDiDio It's true that kratos is a god killer, but the hulk is still stronger than those Gods. Hulk MOVES entire PLANETS and still lost to wolverine. Not only that but wolverine has been fighting for centuries. That experience gives him a definite edge.

princejb1344951d ago

wolverine could regenerate but from my experience playing god of war no one can recover by splitting someone into 2 pieces or ripping his head off like he did to the god of light

hotskys4951d ago

I guess people don't understand that you couldn't do that to wolverine..*sigh*

Good read we need more of these and less flameboy crap on this site.

TrendyGamers4951d ago

Thanks. I always wanted to write this. Glad you liked it!

LarVanian4951d ago

As much as I love Wolverine, I have to say, Kratos would eat him for breakfast.

Baka-akaB4951d ago (Edited 4951d ago )

Dunno ... Marvel got guys that are every bit as competent and badass as Kratos , even greek themed ones like Marvel's Ares ... and wolvie could be a pain to them .

Plus killing gods isnt such a feat for Marvel heroes ... more like a normal day at the office

LarVanian4951d ago (Edited 4951d ago )

But the thing is, even if Logan somehow managed to kill Kratos, he would just come back from the dead like he always does.
By the way, the Marvel Ares is a bit of a weak link, he is nowhere near as godly as the God of War Ares (who can grow to the size of a titan).

Gohadouken4951d ago (Edited 4951d ago )

Nope he doesnt use the fancy powers of the GOW Ares ... but he is kinda like Kratos , with the exception he also use Modern weapons .

And well isnt logan always coming back too ? Making the fight rather moot anyway .

The Real Peter Moore4951d ago

i agree, i love Wolverine too, he's one of my favorite characters, but Kratos would destroy him!

DigitalAnalog4951d ago (Edited 4951d ago )

"God of War Ares (who can grow to the size of a titan)"

I don't think so. As big as they were, they merely fit in the size of the titan's hand. Take Poseidon's true form for instance.

Even Zeus full form (GOW II) was just as tall as the Colossus from the beginning of the game. Don't forget, Kratos had to deal with Pandora's tower on TOP of Kronos.

LarVanian4951d ago

I may have exaggerated a bit when expressing Ares' giant form, but the point I was trying to make was that the GOW Ares was more of a god than the Marvel Ares.

Johnny_Cojones4951d ago

Wolverine is 5'3", by the way. Hugh Jackman is 6'2".

TrendyGamers4951d ago

Thanks, I just updated it. I could only find his height in the movies so I assumed he was around 6"2.

Number_134951d ago

Age old question huh? Making me feel old because I remember a time before Kratos

I think it'll have to be set in Egypt. It's the only place with a recognisable set of gods ready to go. I don't see them using anyone obscure they'll want characters well known in pop culture.

The setting also lends itself well to the series visually and would be a welcome change from snowy landscapes.

Rocketisleague490d ago

Ragnorok pointed to Egypt already?

Nacho_Z490d ago

Makes sense, I haven't finished it yet so wouldn't know.

S2Killinit490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

How about German.? I bet they have some wicked gods. There is also Persian, but theirs is not one with many gods but one god with two sides as far as I understand it. They do have a lot of mythical heroes and “divs”. There is also Japanese gods and demons from shintoism.

Santouryuu490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

I cant delete my own reply..

purple101490d ago

You are right I looked into it, ( a very short google search)

There are other sets of gods like the Indian ones And this setting would be ripe for a game landscape but as you say, the gods are not recognisable to lots of people.

There are Native American set of gods-
And that landscape would also be ripe for a game , but But there not recognisable either

Egypt it is

Psychonaut85490d ago

(Spoiler) when you fight Tyr repeatedly in Valhalla, he pulls out what looks to be Egyptian Kopis blades for one fight, what I believe are Mayan obsidian edged swords for another, and what looks like a Chinese dao (or maybe a heavily stylized) katana. I feel like maybe those are teasers for possible settings

Rocketisleague490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

There are...alot of references to Tyr travelling to Egypt in both games. In the recent DLC there are pyramids in the background of valhalla. I'm gonna take a guess it'll be Egypt with all the references, I would like to see some eastern ones myself but Egypt seems the most likely candidate. Would love a shinto one if there weren't so many Japanese mythology based games already.

gold_drake490d ago

a egypt setting would be siiick

their mythology is the most interesting

darthv72490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

I can see them going with Egyptian, but the only issue would be... how? The Norse mythology takes place in the iron age, same as the Greek. After in fact, but Egyptian mythology takes place even earlier in the bronze age. They would have to create some sort of time travel narrative so Kratos could go back several thousand years to deal with the likes of Ra, Seth, Anubus, and Osiris.

I know its a game, they can do pretty much whatever they want but having two game mythologies in the right order would seem to mean they would try to keep that order. So after the iron age comes the late antiquity age which is where Arabian and Slavic mythologies are part. Neither of which are as well known as something like Egyptian.

Nacho_Z490d ago

I take your point, but if there was a cutscene which went "what's that, some kind of portal!?" and then Kratos appears in ancient Egypt personally I wouldn't question it or care in the slightest.

MehmetAlperTR490d ago (Edited 490d ago )

Please go to Egypt... Enough of norse...

isarai490d ago

Nah do something new, I acknowledge they are good games but I just want to see SSM tackle a new IP

jznrpg488d ago

Rumors are Cory Barlog has been on working on one for sometime now

Psychonaut85487d ago

Yeah I think he even hinted at it himself, and him not being primary director on Ragnarok would seem to bear that out. I love his work, would be so cool to see a new IP from Santa Monica with him at the helm.

Has Kratos Retired After The Harrowing Events Of God of War: Ragnarök?

There have been exciting questions on everyone's mind since the conclusion of the Norse chapter in Santa Monica Studio's God of War. Many believe that Kratos has put down his axe and is now retired.

-Foxtrot831d ago

Probably but I feel future stories will be something coming for Kratos rather him going after someone by choice

If the Egyptian Gods for example hear of his acts against not only the Greek gods but the Norse they might think they are next and send people to try and dispose of him prompting him to investigate why there are continuous attacks on him.

He’s retired but he’s not going to sit back and let people hurt him or the people around him. I’m sure he could bring Freya along aswell to replace Atreus

Nitrowolf2830d ago

I mean, he has unfinished business there and I don't think they would make a comic with him going there for like a minute to be forced to kill one of their gods is not going to eventually come back tbh

hotnickles830d ago

His past catching up to him sounds like plausible way forward even though he has changed.

-Foxtrot829d ago

Exactly

Just because you’ve change it doesn’t erase the past or the reputation outside of Norway

Having Kratos travel will show more civilisations that the God of War has changed.

hotnickles829d ago

Yup the ending with him being the benevolent god is just a path, it hasn’t happened yet. The next scene could be an army of pantheons moving on Kratos.

Flawlessmic830d ago (Edited 830d ago )

This really I think is the only way a new game would work for me.

In saying that, I think kratos has an absolutely amazing run, some of the best games of all time and now an iconic figure I'm gaming.

I felt they wrapped ragnarock up nicely with his future being mortals looking up to him and praising him.

Unless they could reboot the gameplay yet again for an Egypt story I'm content if they leave it there and retire kratos on the hight note that is ragnarok.

Just please don't make an atreus game, hated him in the second one and would have zero interest in playing as him, not to mention he isn't the God of war.

If this is where it ends for kratos then there are not many series that have had a better run.

Would love to see ssm work on a new ip which I believe Cory is doing atm :) can't wait to see what he has instore

-Foxtrot828d ago

Yeah a lot of people are saying the ending set up for Atreus to take over but like you said he's not the God of War

Also I didn't care that much about him when I was playing him Ragnarok, he's a good side character but he's not a leading man. I enjoyed Freya a whole lot more as Kratos's companion than him because she was so well written and the acting was on point, not to mention she was more interesting.

I feel like they got rid of him in a way so if there was a new game for Kratos you wouldn't have the same old Dad/Son story again along with the same kind of gameplay

Sciurus_vulgaris831d ago

Based on Ragnarok’s ending [and overall narrative] Kratos wants to become a benevolent steward of the Nordic realm. He intends to help the people rebuild. He is also old and tired of fighting. Conversely Atreus wants to to travel the world to find out more about the Jotunn and also embrace his adventurous nature. Therefore, I think a successor series to God of War could follow Atreus, with Kratos being a background character.

Bobertt830d ago

It's called God of War not Boy of War. Plus Atreus isn't likeable enough to carry the series by himself. If they continue it Atreus will likely get himself in trouble exploring some other area for the Giant's souls and Kratos will have to go rescue him or Atreus will start a fight with someone and they will chase him back to Kratos and he will get forced to kill a new pantheon of Gods cause they keep trying to kill him.

goldwyncq830d ago (Edited 830d ago )

Atreus has more than proven himself capable after the events of Ragnarok. Besides, if we do continue with Atreus he'll be an adult by then.

It simply makes no sense for Kratos to regress back into a god killer.

Bobertt829d ago

@Goldwyncq His fighting skills aren't the problem it's his personality it isn't likeable enough. Also Kratos never stopped being a God Killer at the end of Ragnarok he just realized he doesn't need to shut himself off to the world and will instead become a God that helps people. He cried when he saw the final mural because it showed a statue of himself being worshiped in the future showing he will succeed. Killing evil Gods like Odin would be helping those people so it isn't a regression.

Flawlessmic830d ago (Edited 830d ago )

Hated atreus in ragnarok, absolutely zero interest in playing as him,.

Either find a way to reboot God of war yet again with Egypt mythology or let the legend rest and give us some new ips.

Imagine what new experiences ssm could give in a new world.

Or a game based on sindri playing as him, getting his revenge, that I'd pay for.

TheKingKratos829d ago

Yep i am with you on this one ... God of war means Kratos to me if they can't keep going with him then just retire the IP till they can do another reboot or just keep going with him

Nineball2112829d ago

Unless Atreus inherits Kratos' weapons, I think it'd be kinda boring.

The bow and the sword he used were fine in short sequences, but I want to use the Blades of Chaos or the Draupnir Spear again!

SullysCigar830d ago

I hope not. He's way too awesome still.

hotnickles830d ago

I don’t see it for a few reasons.

For one, it makes them too much money.

For two, the retirement of Kratos would mean the retirement of the franchise. I think that’s a far jump in assumptions just because ragnarok ended on a good note. It’s strange for the series sure but no cliffhanger just means the next director has more freedom to take it where they want. I think people are looking too deeply into this.
