Introducing ‘Only On PSN’ For New Exclusive Games Throughout October

Blog.us.playstation: We’re excited to announce a new program called “Only On PSN,” which features brand new games that are exclusively available on PlayStation Network throughout October. Every week starting tomorrow, October 4, you will find new titles, unique to PSN that are part of this program – games that you’ve likely read about here on the PlayStation Blog, or seen during our showing at E3 2011. You may recall our announcement a few months ago about investing $20 million in exclusive PSN titles, and the Only On PlayStation Network program showcases two titles spawning from this investment: Eufloria and Okabu.

Weird... Rochard was out last Tuesday... I mean, it may be unique to PSN, but they're saying it is a part of October and comes out tomorrow to inflate their exclusive titles for the month of October. Just... weird.

Edit: Yes to God Hand. You want a challenging action game, pick that up.

yesmynameissumo5008d ago

There's a ton of games worth buying. Great promotion imo.

grailly5008d ago

it's a great promotion, but I would have preferred it in the middle of the summer, october and november are really packed, I'll get these games later(mainly the ps2 games I missed)

DarkTower8055008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

@ cgoodno, I don't think it has anything to do with inflating the October lineup. It's a rewards program, not a "look how many games we release" program. The program is offering incentives (buy $60, get $10 back) on qualifying purchases. As you said Rochard just came out, so offering as part of the October lineup allows buyers to buy it towards the rewards. My question though is how about the people who bought Rochard last week? Will that count towards the reward?

Christopher5008d ago

Yeah, not likely. At least I got the % off from PS+. Game is okay so far.

ksense5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

honestly was that troll comment really needed? do you think they were really desperate to add that one more title to inflate the lineup?

edit@below : inflating the lineup a fact? they wanted it to be a part of the buy 60$ get 10$ offer and not for the reason that you imply and you still haven't answered the question....

do you think they were really desperate to add that one more title to inflate the lineup?

Christopher5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

How is stating a fact a troll comment? They state in the article that it is releasing tomorrow... that's a lie. It released last week and has a PS+ promotional discount.

Christopher5008d ago

Okay, you act like I'm attacking Sony, when I'm stating the facts.

1. The article is advertising their October line-up

2. Rochard released in September

3. The article states that Rochard is releasing in October

4. See #1.

So, yes, they are inflating their October releases by claiming that Rochard is being released in October. What confuses me and why I used the word 'weird' a lot is that it's completely unnecessary. They have a ton of titles coming out.

Now, if they had simply mentioned Rochard at the end as a notable recent release, cool. But, no, they gave it an October 4 release date.

And, it stood out to me so much because I bought it last week. Otherwise, I might have completely overlooked it.

Is this a major item? No, but I comment on what I see, and that stood out to me.

ksense5008d ago

well i just felt the usage of the word inflated was not needed. it seemed negative.besides i do agree with you that it is weird though as the game had released last week

Sunhammer5008d ago

They're saying it'd only count if you buy it beginning on October 4th.

Christopher5008d ago

Actually, all purchases since October 1 count.

It was clarified in a comment: "Yep. Spend $60 on anything in the Store. As long as you spend $60 through the month of October, you’ll get $10 back in November"

Looks pretty impressive. I want Okabu and pixeljunk sidescroller!

crematory5008d ago

i dont think someone could spend $60 on psn in one month!
to receive $10 credit

lodossrage5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

If you're someone that uses all of psn services you can actually go beyond that $60 rather quickly.

Let's say for example you buy castlevania. that's $15 right there. Then if you're someone that spends on ps HOME, that can be an extra $10 or more easy. Then if you have some dlc you want, that price varies. And that's not even mention the videos service

So basically, with that example, you can be well over $30 with one week alone.

TheGamingArt5008d ago

buy a PS+ subscription update and a game...

Christopher5008d ago

If you buy two PS3 digital games, that's $60 right there.

DarkTower8055008d ago

@crematory, if someone buys the psn + and 1 $10 game thats $60 right there. Another incentive to get ps+.

DaTruth5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

This is the perfect month for this! I'm getting Crysis, RE4, Blockbuster is gone, so now I rent off the PSN Video store and Festival of Blood!

I'll make $60 easy in the only time since PSN has existed that I'd actually spend $60! Lucky I waited on RE4!

That's amazing, I actually planned to buy all this stuff before hearing this! I've never spent anywhere near this amount ever!

Dir_en_grey5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

God Hand, GrimGrimoire, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Odin Sphere: $10+10+10+10=$40 ($32 w/ PS+)
Resident Evil 4 HD: $10 (save $10 w/ PS+ before Tue update)

If I use PS+ 3Months which is $15 and buy the above games I already saved $18 (got my money back) and $15+32+10 is $57 already.
Chrono Cross also comes out tomorrow so that will push it over $60.

Even w/o getting PS+, this is basically a 10/60= 16.66% sale that I can use to buy some PSOne Classics/DLC's that I've been waiting to become cheaper, thus easily push it over $60. And this is just 1st week of Oct...

Personally I'll go w/ 3months PS+ since buying the games I want at normal price will be more expensive than getting PS+ w/ discounts. Any more discounts for the next 3 months plus free games are just bonus.

where's Pay Day the Heist?

Christopher5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

Not mentioned because it's not exclusive to PSN (also out on PC)? But, then again, so is Eufloria. So, honestly, no clue.

fucadastates5008d ago

Eufloria is yes.. but Eufloria + is only on psn.
the heist is part of PLAY, not ONLY ON PSN

Megaton5008d ago (Edited 5008d ago )

Eufloria has been "Only on PC" for 2 years. Good game, btw.

Looks like they're also pulling a "Summer of Arcade" thing, but I think you get less back. Pretty sure it was $15 back last year for spending $60. No idea what they did this year.

ksense5008d ago

From IGN "The PSN release will include features that didn't make it into the PC version. Developer Omni Systems (a three man team) is thinking of it as "Eufloria ++."

Rolling the Dice: Do Modern RPGs Miss the Point of Team-Based Play?

It seems it was long time ago. A bunch of friends spending hours on end playing RPG games, sitting around the table with the box of cold pizza. Excited about the story, listening to the Game Master, they were completely engaged in the worlds only visible to them and their imaginations.

The GM is the programmer, and in MMOs and co-ops, you can play with others. If you want to ONLY use your imagination for the visuals, read a book.

1) Hope they put it on disc this time.
2) Hope this is a positive for Neptune coming over as well.

Demons Souls5490d ago

If so, that's being developed & published by Idea Factory. Compile Heart has nothing to do with it (Thank God for that).

Godmars2905490d ago (Edited 5490d ago )

Thought Compile Heart was one of the companies lending characters.

Was also speaking in general as in regards to a US of Neptune. If these guys are offing a second game, NIS or Atlus, both of whom offer quirkier titles, will put that one out.

@kagon01:
My issue isn't - wholly - with the DL-only option, but the price. The first game should be $30. Maybe $40, and by that I mean $39.99. The only reason its $45 is the 360 disc version which has extras. Nevermind that by all rights its a PS2 game. Something that proabbly could have been done if the devs had the GOW2 engine or tools.

ClownBelt5490d ago

I approve of this god damn message.

Could have gotten my 60 bucks if they just put it on a disc.

Another exclusive damnn the ps3 keeps on rollin wit games awesome ;)

Jack-Pyro5490d ago

Is this a half decent SRPG, porn aside, cause if it is, i might just decide to go and buy it for the 360.

Anon73495490d ago

There's no porn just some sexual innuendos but that's it.

Also it is a great game by itself, maybe not graphically but everything else is top tier.

RedDevils5490d ago

so it had some kind of "top tier" porn story jk

ThanatosDMC5490d ago

Yup, it's a decent game. I just hate that a move has to go first before any attack options.
