The website is running like a piece of shit for me at the moment.
I will upload an appropriate pic once I can get onto the webpage.

Both seem pretty even, slight lightning differences. Both have horrible screen tearing though.

Dante1125005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

@ Gray

PS3 looked to have the better textures, just the framerate is slightly wobbly than the 360.

Edit: Lol, just noticed that anyone who said anything positive about the PS3 version is getting disagrees like hell and most of the users here have accounts created today literally minutes apart. Attack of the one bubble trolls. XD

guitarded775005d ago

One shot in particular shows better textures on the PS3. For some reason, the lighting effects are very different on the florescent bulbs. I finished downloading on both consoles and have only got to play it on my PS3 since there is server problems with the 360 version still. It seems a bit bright to me... it's hard to determine enemies from distance. Anyway, I already preordered it for the PS3 months ago, because that's where my Battlefield friends are, and CoD on the 360 because that's where my friends for that game are.

Kleptic5004d ago

^^^first thing i did was turned the in game brightness down some. I keep my tv pretty dark as is anyway, and it still looked ridiculous in the outside areas...

the difference was amazing...overall contrast was way better, I was getting absolutely slaughtered and had no clue why I could never see enemies...having the default 'wash out' setting definitely doesn't help...

guitarded775004d ago

@Kleptic
Yeah, I hear ya... I turned it down as well. At least I know I'm not the only one who thought this. Sometimes when you mention a real issue, you get slammed as if you're bad mouthing the game. Battlefield is my favorite FPS, but the lighting (as impressive as it may be) makes enemies get lost in the distance. This gives an advantage to snipers using a scope at distance. Everything improved a bit once I got a red dot on my assault rifle. My other complaint is the knifing needs to be a little more accurate. I can be on top of an enemy and knifing away and nothing happens.

zeeshan5004d ago

I know this is beta but I can't stand three things. Mind you, I am playing this on PS3.

First, the FRIEND INVITE does NOT work. Me and buddy tried to join each other and make a squad. I tell ya, the squad system is broken. Me and my friend were ALWAYS thrown in opposite teams and when we were in the same team, we could even make our squad. The SWITCH TEAM option doesn't work. Always says the Server will become too unbalanced or something.

Secondly, I CAN'T see enemies. Hear me out. The beta map is huge. From a very green park, to subway tunnels and then outside on the street. The map is big BUT, the thing is, I CAN'T see enemies. Almost everyone is camping hidden in the bushes. I am going to compare this to KZ3 for a while and might I add that I KNOW, I am comparing an unfinished product with a finished and patched product but allow me to just humor you with my thoughts.

The KZ3 environment is dark, gray, blue, green and overall, unlike real world environments are present in KZ3 (mainly because it's not happening on earth) BUT, I can almost always see enemies from way over. I can clearly see them even with all those dark and gloomy shades and environment. The characters look a bit large too compared to BF3.

In Battlefield 3, I can't spot enemies. There are just wayyy to many opportunities for campers to have a field day and secondly, there is something about the maps and lights that makes them almost invisible. The ONLY place where I can see enemies are when you are fighting on the streets (where you are hearing ambulance sirens etc). That's where it gets a bit personal and up and close too.

Thirdly, I don't like the on-screen map. Not one bit. Nodda! It is hard to spot an ememy on the map when he fires. It could be the colors of the map, the placement but that is all debateable. The fact is, it's hard to see enemies on the on-screen map.

IMO, DICE have their work cut for them. I foresee a NUMBER Of post-release patches to address a number of problems in the game. The game has potential but they need to fix a lot of basic stuff such as squad and friend invite. YES, AGAIN, I KNOW... it is an unfinished business but either this beta is pre-alpha or DICE has been super lazy to provide a working beta with friends invite and VOIP.

Now... let the disagrees float in. I just gave you guys my honest opinion though!

Gray-Fox-Type05005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

both are really bad but ps3 one seems to be suffering from lower frames and more screen tearing. xbox 360 seems to have better textures and lighting look at the floor and lighting on the last pic.

Gamer30005005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

from LOT:
"the extra bloom effect on the PlayStation 3 version"
"the PlayStation 3 version has sharper textures."
and the framrate is the same on both
xbox360
Global average FPS: 29.85
ps3
Global average FPS: 29.67

@Dante112
lol i just noticed that too
what did you expect

@ Gamer

Thank you for posting that. It's like most didn't read the article and just came up with conclusions out of the blue.

DaTruth5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

The 360 always runs compressed stuff better; it is designed for compression! PS3 is designed for streaming uncompressed assets from a Bluray disk!

So compressed demos and betas will almost always run better on 360 and developers will always compress online demos and betas so people with bandwidth caps will be more likely to download their promotional material!

cobblestone195005d ago

Umm...

PlayStation 3 (63%, 636 Votes)
Xbox 360 (24%, 243 Votes)
Tie (13%, 125 Votes)
+ what Gamer3000 said... The Ps3 version is superior.

thereapersson5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

LOL, it's as if the 360 fans hiding in the shadows were waiting for you to say that; they come out of the woodwork and fervently agree with your made-up nonsense.

Nice try, bro...

DaTruth5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

slamming the disagree button won't change the truth; we see it time and time again! A 360 demo might outperform its PS3 counterpart even when the final product performs better on PS3!

Why do you think we always have demo/beta analysis, yet the final product analysis is mysteriously missing!

Also mysteriously missing is a disagree accompanying argument against anything I said proving I was wrong!

kikizoo5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

lol, perfect example of denial, gray-fox and others Xpert liar are really funny.

+ don't forget lens of "truth" is most of the time biased against ps3...so if the ps3 version is the "superior" one for them, it's really the superior one :)

starchild5004d ago

Give me a break. Lens of Truth has shown a pro-PS3 bias since they first started the site. They always try to skew it in favor of the PS3. It's just that they can't push that BS too far or it will be too obvious that they are biased. The only time the 360 wins one of their face offs is if it is so far ahead that there is no way to skew it in favor of the PS3.

Meh...I'd wait for other comparisons if you really want to know which console version to get.

I played both the 360 and PS3 versions last night and I'm undecided. I found the PS3 version to have better texturing and a smoother look, whereas the 360 version had better contrast and less screen tearing.
Obviously it's a beta so I'm hoping some of the issues, including the ridiculous amount of glitches (tracer fire suspended mid-air) are ironed out.
Gameplay-wise, I'm not a fan of the map they chose. Seems to be all over the place.
And again I know it's a beta, but I have yet to see any worthwhile destruction from frostbite 2.0... I shot a pillar in the underground area which crumbled the outside tiles, but that's it.

Pacman3215005d ago

Once you get outside with all the buildings, after the subway part, you can destroy buildings. The destruction is quite amazing, i was just sat there with an rpg testing it out. However sad thing is that not all buildings are destructive.

BlackPrince 425005d ago

Frame dropping on the PS3 version aside, they seem functionally/graphically identical.

Only big difference is in the lighting. PS3 has waaaay more bloom. Probably has a more advanced lighting system in place, but personally I think it's too much.

Hicken5005d ago

Remind me of the difference in frame drop again? I can't seem to recall that there was much of a difference.

frostypants5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

Is it just me, or does the resolution of this beta seem a bit lower than it was in BFBC2 for both consoles? The trees definitely don't look as nice.

I gotta say though, even though I have always HATED Rush mode and considered Conquest to be the only BF mode that matters, the Rush map in this beta is phenomenal. Might just change my mind about Rush.

And the audio in this game is spectacular, especially with a home theater system. Just wow.

The sense of immersion is fantastic...something BF2 had in spades but was a little lost in BFBC2.

Iceballs5004d ago

What a good comparison compared to the others out there.

Prophet-Gamer5004d ago

How every time I see a LoT article, the 360 version is overall darker? Is that normal or are LoT not adjusting their TV's brightness or something? Cause I've played both versions and the 360, though a bit darker, does not look that dark.

Shaman5005d ago

This game has...alot of screen tearing. Some lighting differences, small performance one, still beta. Should be pretty close in the end.

miDnIghtEr20C_SfF5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

And it has the blue screen glitch that sucks as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

HeavenlySnipes5005d ago

The game looks average. Due to be being dumb enough to fall for the BF fanboy hype I had high expectations. That's not to say the game isn't fun.

miDnIghtEr20C_SfF5005d ago

Lol.. how can I have a disagree? I even put up a video of it happening to me.

SkylineR5005d ago

It's N4G man. People will disagree if you say the sky is blue. :p

Anyway, that happened to me last night too. Weird glitch. It disappeared as I got killed and went down.

badz1495005d ago

of course people will disagree if you say the sky is blue because it doesn't always blue. the same time you're looking at the blue sky, someone else is looking at the black, gray, orange sky somewhere else too. lol!

Xalaris5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

You open the menu and close it.
Problem solved.

Do people ever even consider looking for a solution when they come across such a worthless problem? No, apparently it's easier to just stare at the screen in awe, record it to show everyone a Beta glitch and put it on YT.

miDnIghtEr20C_SfF5005d ago

Wow.. look at the cool guy that probably found that out from another site, and is now mad that some of us just thought it was a beta glitch. God forbid there be glitch in the beta, and we don't know to get to the menu screen to stop it.

Xalaris5005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

No, I actually just paused the game, and then unpaused.
And it IS a beta glitch, I never said otherwise.

Oldman1005005d ago

Yah i would have thought dice would have screen tearing sorted out this time around. Oh well, i just finished installing so im off to experience it myself.

SCW19825005d ago

Yeah I played it on my 360 and then PS3 and both have way too much screen tearing come on dice you should have that figured out since bad company 2

RememberThe3575005d ago

Why is everyone evaluating this game of a beta? We have no idea how old this build is, do we? If not, why is anyone applying any value from this to the actually game?

DarkTower8055005d ago (Edited 5005d ago )

Dice freaking promoted this beta with the MOH purchase. They know public betas nowadays are more of a demo. I also haven't heard anything from Dice regarding screen tearing and bad textures. I think it's safe to say this is what we'll get come release.

Edit: also, I've been in many betas, and they are always the same quality as the final release, minus bugs and glitches.

RememberThe3575005d ago

I've been in DICE betas and the games always come out better. It is not safe to evaluate this beta as what will represent the final product. DICE doesn't communicate very well but I guarantee they are working on issue that people are bringing up. Just because GG or some other dev uses betas that represent close to the final product does not mean DICE does the same. This is a beta, and all of you should remember that. Play the game when it is released to see what it's really like.

DeadIIIRed5005d ago

So you're saying that DICE should have known that betas are now defacto demos and not in fact, betas? Here's a crazy idea, maybe the beta is actually a...beta...Leave you feedback with DICE on Battlelog or quit whining to people who can't do anything about it.

Biggest5005d ago

What an awesome comment. The definition of beta is now "more of a demo" and DICE should have known that. That totally makes sense.

M-M5005d ago

"The beta won’t include all the graphics features which will make it in the final version."

Source: http://bf3blog.com/2011/09/...

xAlmostPro5005d ago

This is not what we'll get come release, the version i played at gamefest was ahead of this version.

I asked the representitive if what we were playing is the beta due to be released and was told "no, you'll all be playing an exclusive build built for gamefest and other gaming events thats a fair bit ahead of the public beta due to be released"

Having said that i can confirm the build i played at gamefest, had no noticeable screen tearing, no weird blue screen glitch, looked better visually too..

just saying guys, stay hopeful :)

frostypants5004d ago (Edited 5004d ago )

Thanks for the info, xAlmostPro. The version you played was probably more advanced, but probably less stable online. It would make sense that the beta would be a stabilized online build that might not quite be up to speed in other areas.

People need to realize that betas these days are NOT demos. They are still just tests. What DICE is doing is taking advantage of the fact that so many gamers will jump at the chance to play a game early, and exploiting that to get a uber-huge beta test population.

It's a beta, not a demo. It's intended as a beta, not a demo.

It's perfectly fine to point out deficiencies in the beta...that's kind of the point. But to assume they are a permanent part of the game is ridiculous. The point of the beta is to find and squash bugs, but even as this is going on, with any modern game tweaks around more fundamental stuff are applied right up until the last couple of days before the discs are pressed. And again, usually there are multiple versions of the game floating around, and the beta is not necessarily the newest in all areas of the game.

Because it is an early demo masqueraded as a beta?

"We went to DICE’s plush Stockholm offices and spoke to Craig McLeod, who heads the team of game testers, and executive producer Patrick Bach,..."

"PB: Right now we are weeks from being done. The only thing you see when you are so close to finishing is more opportunity. When you have been building a game for such a long time you get bored with the things that you liked so much before, that you feel like changing them just for the sake of it."

Get rid of campaigns, move the game to mobile, and try to compete with warzone. They would save time and money.
