Eurogamer - X-Men: Destiny Review

Jeffrey Matulef writes: "X-Men: Destiny is a terrible game in most ways. It's an ugly, stupid title that's shoddily constructed. And yet, it gets the most important thing right: crafting your own mutant works due to finely tuned balancing, and tough choices coupled with haphazard item acquisition ensure that the focus is squarely on that.

Those expecting a well told, immersive X-Men experience will shudder at its chunky character designs, shabby presentation and stilted dialogue, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy myself with it."

I could tell from gameplay videos and pictures that this wouldn't be a Xmen game I would like. The designs look off and the premise of playing a nobody in a Xmen game was not very interesting. Especially when your options are just two nearly identical macho men and an emo girl...

lol, Silicon Knights are really shit or is it Activisions fault by pushing its release, nah it's both.

Ouch, this game isn't getting good reviews.

Definite gamefly rental down the road.

The Best and Worst of Superhero Games

Mrs Nesbitt from BBG writes: "The superhero genre is massive in the movie industry with MCU dominating the scene with several Avengers movies and other subsequent titles. So, what about video games? Similar to the game to movie transition, movies have not always transitioned very well. (Dare I mention Charlie’s Angels for GameCube?) Luckily for us, we have had some spectacular superhero games, and equally, some downright “what were they thinking” titles."

PS1 Spider-Man Wins it for me because Stan Lee narrated it all, his opening speech alone gets you pumped, also Worst: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows...ew

I agree with the 1st spiderman. I have it on DC though. Hulk UD is a fun game as well.

Stalmaster1853d ago

Probably in the minority but I really enjoyed Batman Begins before the Arkham series came along.

MrsNesbitt1853d ago

Actually really enjoyed that too! But had to opt for Batman Returns on the SNES

hanko141853d ago

spider-man ten pin bowling was the best

Deadpool was trash though, it's surprising to me that Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker isn't on the list but then again that's probably a good thing.

Ah yes and Spider-Man (2000) man that game was my childhood but the sequel Enter Electro was so underwhelming.

Neocrisis - Does the emphasis on "choice," as opposed to a more traditional linearity, make Destiny stand out from the rest? Or does Destiny fall short of its potential?
